I tasted this new (2014) vintage a couple months ago, and gave it a 91. It's a definite improvement over the 2013, which was decent, but the tannins were a bit too angular IMO. The 2014 package is new, but it looks like they had some "old" label and capsule stock to run out. No worries, the wine is good and the new packaging will eventually be out in the market. This is a gem and should be consumed in copious quantities. So this rating is higher. Deal with it. — 10 years ago
Inky color with white pepper nose. Black fruits and licorice on the palate. Tannins are firm but not out of balance. Throwing copious amounts of sediment. Definitely not a lightweight. — 11 years ago
Viscous black fruit, copious tannins, touch of earth. Very nice, but many years to go! — 11 years ago
Copious notes of blackberry, blueberry, and cassis, light acidity, soft tannins. Needs around 20-30 minutes to open up. 80% Merlot and 20% Cab Franc. $9 @ Costco. — 8 years ago
Nice, tight, copious bubbles. Delightful honey finish! Sweet, but crisp, not syrupy. — 9 years ago
Deep, inky, and bloody purple with a few nice and long legs on the rim. Nose of pleasant and copious sweet raisin note, followed by hot spice, a hint of leather, tobacco leaf, meaty, and a bit anise note. Taste of round acidity with ample sweetness, ripe fruit, jammy and smooth, black pepper, and medium tannins. Aftertaste of sweet raisin with spice, peat and barrel note, zest and medium finish. Tasty sweet Zin blend and enjoy it now. — 10 years ago
Fun, medium, balanced, clean and easy. Everything that is right in a white wine served in copious amounts around tapas! — 10 years ago
Amazingly, this treasure, my last bottle of the saturated purple '99 Ojai Syrah 'Thompson Vineyard', was much fresher and significantly fruitier than the previous bottle consumed about a year ago. This one I drank immediately after decanting (with copious sediment). Super dense aromatics and smoky flavors of dark fruit, damp earth, cracked pepper, leather and licorice abounded. The silky finish was long, powerful and eminently satisfying. — 10 years ago
I thought I'd like this better on day 2, but ended up liking it better on the evening it was opened. Then it was showing ripe, concentrated dark fruit with fields' worth of violet flower character. Good balance, but the silky tannic structure was entirely buried beneath the copious fruit. I Day 2, the fruit turned a bit candied and liqueur-like. Despite that, it never tasted Californian to me. I think in time it will emerge as a more classic wine, and it certainly has the stuffing to go distance. — 8 years ago
Grilling copious amounts of meat👍🏼 — 10 years ago
Juicy plum and blackberry on the nose with just a hint of Christmas spice. 2 years in the cellar has really relaxed out this wine. Lush and fruit-forward on the palate. Elegant flavors of black fruits leads to a copious spice box and easy acidity. The finish lingers forever with plum and black earth. — 10 years ago
Honey, minerals and copious amount of fruit — 11 years ago
On the nose, copious prune and raisin, underscored by a pleasant nuttiness, culminating in a distinct sherry aroma. On the tongue, juicy and full. The prune follows through, along with a nice black cherry, all of which is mellowed out by stout, toasty oak. The finish is med-long, warm, and very smooth. Fantastic for $10.00. — 12 years ago

Easy to drink in copious amounts. Not as full bodied as I expected. Nice lavender notes. Earthiness. Not overwhelming with tannins. — 8 years ago
