Visiting again this splendid Paulliac from the 2011 vintage. 2011 vintage was labeled as mediocre in Bordeaux and this lovely wine showed that it is actually a classic vintage with some great wines, so trust the chateau not only the vintage. The nose is tempting with notes if coffee, earth, oak, cassis, black fruits and hints of chocolate, the body is full with round tannins, acidity is splendid and finish is long. My score 92, drink to 2026, perhaps longer — 5 years ago
2015 bottling. I don’t really drink stuff like this much anymore but this was very well made and delicious. — 6 years ago
Dark fruit and Coffee notes - in a good spot — 6 years ago
Tasted blind. Ruby color. Almost opaque. Young fruit forward nose. Notes of plums, mocha, dark chocolate, coffee, cinnamon and some exotic thing like eucalyptus. So rich and vibrant in the mouth. A forever finish. This wine took us in all directions. Immortal. Stan's 60th will always be remembered for the 45 Latour vs 45 Mouton mano y mano battle. A wine life moment for sure. — 7 years ago
2 hrs in the decanter.
Coolish and classic nose. Kinda smooth.
On the palate sturdy tannines! Lots of minerality, yet very soft acidity. Black fruit, cloves, coffee, smoke, leather and graphite.
Give these bottles a few more years in the cellar to smoothen out the tannines. Potential plus. — 2 years ago
Interesting blend of traditional Corvina with some Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon added in. Half of the grapes are partially dried in the appasimento style. Beautiful aromas and flavors of dried cherries, prunes, baking spices, coffee and tobacco. Dark purple color, full bodied with velvety tannins. Vibrant acidity. Balanced and fresh. Winner! — 3 years ago
At the Peter Lehmann dinner at the Downs Club. These notes are for the 2010 vintage. Stonewell is all about strength and power. Aromas of coffee grounds and a touch of aniseed amongst the black fruits. Not as pruney as the 2006 had recently. Much more acceptable than the ultra ripe styles of 5 plus years ago. One of the wines of the night. — 5 years ago
Like that time you found a 50$ bill in the pocket of your winter coat — 5 years ago
A very complex wine with big muscular structure. Earthy smell at the beginning, Graphite, pencil shaving, tobacco leaves, coffee beans, very strong tannic but change to silky after hours. Decanted it for more than 5 hours it showed a different way. Really impressive for this Sunday night. — 6 years ago
Lots of blackberry flavor; I don't taste the chocolate or coffee referred to on the label. Still, this is something you could curl up with along with your favorite stew (I'm thinking turkey chili with mole). — 6 years ago
2018 vintage. Yet another 2018 that’s out of the blocks quickly. Not getting much out of the nose besides silt, black coffee and a little dark cherry. Medium-bodied. Smoother than a polished marble floor right now with just enough acidity. Espresso bean, bleached white paper, that dark cherry, brandy and raspberry pushing the tasting narrative. Had pushed all my chips into the center of the table with their 2015 and (to a lesser extent) 2016 vintages. May hafta open a line of credit for this vintage. — 3 years ago
So delicious. Coffee, chocolate, cherries, beautifully complex. Doesn't need anything with it, although some ginger chocolate is a killer combo. The perfect wine for curling up in front of the fire if you're looking for interest and doing what it says on the bottle! — 4 years ago
This is a very tasty and spicy Napa Cabernet. Big and bold with a great mouthfeel and nice complexity.
Needs time to open up properly.
Showing black fruits with chocolates earth, cedar, vanilla, licorice, coffee, tobacco, spices and peppercorn chocolates.
Still young and needs longer time in the bottle to mature, but already yummy.
Interesting and delicious.
14.5% alcohol by volume.
93 points.

A little disappointing. Doughnut issue — 6 years ago
More balanced than I was expecting. Blueberry, coffee, leather and cedar on the palate. Enough acidity to round it out. Long, tannic finish with a bit of a vegetal note to it. — 7 years ago
