So delicious. Coffee, chocolate, cherries, beautifully complex. Doesn't need anything with it, although some ginger chocolate is a killer combo. The perfect wine for curling up in front of the fire if you're looking for interest and doing what it says on the bottle! — 5 years ago
Soft and velvety, with some fruit and a bit of pepper. — 6 years ago
2015 bottling. I don’t really drink stuff like this much anymore but this was very well made and delicious. — 7 years ago
Really enjoyed this bottle and it showed its versatility with various soups/sauces at our favorite hot pot BYOB place in Hawaii. Lamb, beef, sesame sauce, miso sauce, spicy soups. It works with everything. #wheninamerica #drinknapa — 7 years ago
More balanced than I was expecting. Blueberry, coffee, leather and cedar on the palate. Enough acidity to round it out. Long, tannic finish with a bit of a vegetal note to it. — 8 years ago
Coffee, dark fruit, smokiness, chocolate, vanilla. Very long finish — 8 years ago
Medium garnet , medium wide garnet terracotta rim . Tobacco , sous bois , touch of ash and coffee . On the palate quite rounded but firm tannins , dark cassis , cedar , sous bois . Good acidity and medium grafite tinged finish . Overall a touch rustic in comparison to the other Leovilles , but this is drinking perfectly now , no rush however as this held up well in the glass,

My favorite non-nitro stout. Flavor notes are perfect and well balanced. It’s what stouts of this variety should aspire to be — 7 years ago
Dark fruit and Coffee notes - in a good spot — 7 years ago
Brilliant stuff, first time with this one but a real winner, round full flavour with a little fizz in the mouth — 8 years ago
Interesting blend of traditional Corvina with some Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon added in. Half of the grapes are partially dried in the appasimento style. Beautiful aromas and flavors of dried cherries, prunes, baking spices, coffee and tobacco. Dark purple color, full bodied with velvety tannins. Vibrant acidity. Balanced and fresh. Winner! — 4 years ago
At the Peter Lehmann dinner at the Downs Club. These notes are for the 2010 vintage. Stonewell is all about strength and power. Aromas of coffee grounds and a touch of aniseed amongst the black fruits. Not as pruney as the 2006 had recently. Much more acceptable than the ultra ripe styles of 5 plus years ago. One of the wines of the night. — 5 years ago
A little disappointing. Doughnut issue — 7 years ago
Lots of blackberry flavor; I don't taste the chocolate or coffee referred to on the label. Still, this is something you could curl up with along with your favorite stew (I'm thinking turkey chili with mole). — 7 years ago

Medium deep garnet core with slightly wider terracotta rim . Quite exuberant nose , more dark fruits than the Barton , spicy , cedar notes , touch of funk , swimming pool note also . On the palate quite spicy more intense black fruits , cassis , sous bois , coffee , saline , mineral tinged sea spray notes . Balanced acidity and quite rounded but noticeable tannin . Long and denser on the finish than the Barton . Showing well now but can go another 10 years no problem — 8 months ago
