Tart and little and heavy on merlot. It's like the little cutest girl in school. Definitely a type...just not mine.
To be fair, this is a well put together wine. — 9 years ago
Another favorite on mine! Color - a purplish red magenta. Nose - Blue fruit, crushed rock and vanilla burst in scent from the glass—a stewed meat, spice, cedar menthol lingers. Taste - dark blueberry fruit with a dark tart cherry following. A silky feel as it coats the mouth—cream brûlée notes float giving the wine a subtle sweetness. At the mid-pallet pepper dry herbs and cedar-spice give it a long dry finish. A great evening to celebrate national wine and cheese day—yum yum. — 5 years ago
This wine is a Banger. Napoleons favorite and mine as well — 6 years ago
2017 vintage. Very fragrant and floral. Little bit of stemmy herbal-ness going on in the nose. Red and purple flowers: hibiscus, lilac, violet, rose petals, raspberry, peach melba, wild strawberry, green tea, lavender, tarragon. Tastes a lot like a good cru Beaujolais. — 7 years ago
The rock is primal. Earth elemental with fresh cut. Hint of pineapple and triumphant tannins coat your tongue with flavor. Minerals like a mine shaft. — 5 years ago
Drank 2009 - still so fresh, lime in colour and zesty in the mouth, but with an undertone of oily aged delight. Fantastic. — 7 years ago
Gorgeous perfume - I could smell this for hours. Medium weight on the palate with those trade mark silky tannins. Noticeable whole bunch influence. Coal River in Tasmania is hot right now for the production of top class Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Interestingly the grapes are taken in refrigerated containers to the Adelaide Hills for vinification at Shaw and Smith. — 7 years ago

Shafer HS is an all time favorite of mine but I don't typically open a bottle within 10 years of release. This bottle illustrated why. It's still in its chrysalis--developing and building and gaining weight and shedding tannin. Just not ready even after hours in the decanter. — 9 years ago

Allemand nightcap! From the terrific wine list at CUT Vegas. Allemand is truly one of my absolute favorite producers and this 07 Reynard from the master was superb. It’s deep, powerful and has a searing intensity. Ethereal and layered with dark fruit, coal smoke, black olive and violets.
There is superb concentration along with a firm tannic structure that is beginning to soften as it approaches its drinking apogee. It’s exceptionally well balanced with an incredibly long, palate saturating and harmonious finish with vivid energy and an elegant purity. WowWw. ☄️ — 5 years ago
