Clos Saron

Wind Gap Wines

Gap's Crown Vineyard Pinot Noir 2012

Lovely Burgundian PN seemingly at its peak - lots of lifted red and black berry fruit, pomegranate, some orange peel. Pine needles and Chinese five spice. The perfect amount of VA is energizing. Acid is still driving and in balance with the fruit and the softened tannins. Actually reminds me a bit of the Clos Saron pinots, with the VA and quite similar structure at this age. — 5 years ago

The Pleasant Peasant California Carignan

2015 Carignan is everything- fruit, carbonic, structure and more fruit. A complete pleasure bomb! — 7 years ago

Clos Saron

Kind of Blue Sierra Foothills Syrah 2013

Full and fruity with enough acidity to hold off a bomb. Excellent nose. Second night the tannins clamped down. Last glass on the 3rd night the fruit softened and picked up some earth. I love Clos Saron... I have a few 2006s I can't wait to open. — 8 years ago

That’s a beautiful bottle of wine. Glad you enjoyed! Loved the evolving review as it oxidized over the three nights.

Yes... also love it when it's hand numbered bottles instead of cases.

Absolutely magical stuff. Meat, stone, blueberry, and nice acidity considering it was likely a larger wine in it's youth. — 8 years ago

Clos Saron

Old Block Home Vineyard Pinot Noir 2012

2012 on march21, 2017 after a one hour decant. Wow, rose petals, bright acidity, more earthy than fruity, medium body. I really like that it's 12.6% Alc. Extremely small production ( 588 bottles ). — 9 years ago

Clos Saron

Stone Soup Syrah 2015

Purity purity purity. Farming and winemaking so deep in the soul of the earth you can feel and sense it at every turn. Every drop of this wine is blood sweat and tears. Not many can achieve such AND it’s delicious and not at all big or overripe. Well done. — 6 years ago

Cecelia North Yuba Sauvignon Blanc - Syrah Rosé Blend 2018

Fabulous blend of 60% SB and 40% Syrah, chalky, from Yuba county CA. Not your typical strawberry bomb - about as far away from that as you can get — 6 years ago

Spring Frost Merlot Blend 2010

Bad frost killed the vintage but the few grapes that prevailed made a stunning wine! So fresh. It just explodes out of the glass. Opened years too soon. — 7 years ago

A substantive rosé. Really tasty. Almost too much so. But not a throwaway rosé. One that leaves a mark. — 6 years ago

Old Vines Bechthold Vineyard Cinsault 2014

120 year old Cinsault vines. Ever since drinking something by Clos Saron I think non-gnarly cinsault tastes blue, somehow. This is blue and quite damn good. — 9 years ago
