Continuing my theme of Australian cool climate Shiraz - this from the Canberra District. Considered by many to be as good as Clonakilla’s flagship Shiraz Viognier. Nose of pepper and spice with red fruits. On the palate cherry and spice with earthy mineral notes finishing with persistent fine Tannins. A very good cool climate Australian Shiraz in the mould of a Saint Joseph or Cote Rotie. NB Delectable this is Clonakilla Syrah. Not offered in your choices. — 6 years ago
Typical Shiraz/Viognier Blend of the Canberra District without the oomph of the benchmark Clonakilla. Strong white pepper and brambley notes. Pepper and Spice on the medium weight palate. Good drinking and may be peak drinking at 5 years of age. Like this style a lot. — 7 years ago
Crafted in the Northern Rhone peppery spicy style- a style which I like. This wine had nice peppery, dried meat notes but lacked mid palate fruit oomph. Medium to light bodied - a Syrah for Pinot drinkers. In the same genre I preferred the recently tasted Clonakilla Shiraz Viognier. — 9 years ago
Always one my favourite Aussie wines for decades. Probably Australia's best exponent of a Cote Rotie style (with Clonakilla Sh/V). Had become expensive of late and it's little brother Cliff Edge is better value for money but at the top level this is still brilliant. 18+ — 10 years ago
A light, refreshing wine; citrus aromas with a crisp finish. Very drinkable. — 11 years ago
From the difficult wet 2011 vintage in South Australia - at least the whites fared better than the reds. Pale gold in colour, light in body but persistent in flavour with good length despite the vintage. The palate has put on weight over the years. A delicious and technically correct Clare Valley Riesling - no Kerosene. Interesting to compare with the Crawford River (2013) and the Clonakilla (2010). — 5 years ago
Brimming with white and black pepper, black fruits and subtle oak. In a good drinking window now. — 7 years ago
Ripe pear and delicate floral/musk aromas. The palate has pear and white peach fruits ripened to perfection with perfect acidity, tightly wound, ensuring a long cellaring life.

Notes of Liquorice and white pepper. Medium weight at best but this is a wine style I enjoy. Similar to Bests 2011 Bin 1 which won the Jimmy Watson trophy. Langhi Ghiran and Clonakilla supercede the St Joseph in the same genre. 17.5. — 10 years ago
With its heavyweight tannins and white pepper punch, this is more Gigondas than CNdP. Surprisingly bright fruit despite the vintage. Needs air now and a couple more years might see it improve. A nice drop. — 10 years ago
Musky and mineral notes. Lime rather than lemon on nose and palate with grapefruit. The shrill acidity of 8 years ago now diminished but still high at 10 years of age. Quite tangy and refreshing. The Canberra District has proven to be very suitable for Riesling with producers like Helm and Clonakilla. — 5 years ago
Dark crimson in colour. Notes of cedar, cigar box, mulberry and blackberry but not too much of the latter. Tannins resolved. The wine is in a good place at 13 years and my last bottle. Great value at around $30. A good example of continental Cabernet from the Canberra district. Pretty much equal parts of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Clonakilla better known these days for its stellar Shiraz Viognier. — 6 years ago
Initial impression is a gorgeous honeyed nose - not a hint of Kero. A mouth filling delicious palate with mineral slightly saline, moderate acid finishing with a refreshing Grapefruit bitterness. Lost a little intensity with air but overall it literally won by a nose ( the gorgeous honeyed nose!) over the 2009 Clonakilla. — 8 years ago
As a personal preference, I love the fact that this white isn't sweet! Beautiful. — 10 years ago
Wow! Really fun wine. Still a bit tight. First time seeing green in a white - zesty, ebullient, great for a wine of any age. Blind I would have thought it was less than half its age. — 10 years ago

Lighter in colour than I expected. Very fruity initial hit. Very pleasant and easy to drink. — 4 years ago
