Loved this! Had a glass at Christopher's in Woonsocket, perfect with baked fish. Delightful aroma. Hope I can find it somewhere — 4 years ago
1878 Christopher&Co Bual - why? To celebrate buying a new house and my finishing the last credentialing hurdle I will face for the next ten years with my wife's favorite wine.
And how is it? A tawny, darkened marmalade color with a lovely oxidized nose of burnt orange, hazelnut and dried figs. Noticeable but slight volatile acidity. On the palate it is rich without heaviness with a good streak of acidity that balances out the sugar in the vein of a good Beerenauslese. The finish is clean and strongly evocative of fresh roasted coffee and toffee. — 9 years ago

Hello. Have we met before??? This is love at first sight, first taste. Incredible complexity and depth with lingering intensity. Near perfect structure and feel. I’m super into the game-y dried meats underlying overtones of blackberry fruit, raspberry jam, and brilliant iris and violet nose. I can almost chew it and I wish I could. — 4 years ago
Bottled in 1969 to commemorate some royal event or other, this is a blend of three late 19th century vintages. The wine is the colour if light liquorice water, if that makes sense. Almost black but hazily translucent, browning towards the edge. Not unattractive at all but something I can't remember having come across before. The nose is full of dried figs, liquorice, dates, and prunes, with hints of green tea and peppermint in the background; quite hot but not in a bad way - it is remarkably dry and there is a persistent sourness on the finish. I coravined this one so look forward to drinking it again soon:-) (I've had bad experiences with older wines oxidising with the coravin, probably due their older, and therefore less elastic corks, but with this guy that happily won't be a problem)! — 9 years ago

Smoother than the 2016, this Stonestreet Cabernet is excellent and ready to drink. Good cherry fruit to start, very smooth tannins in the finish. Lovely. This Cabernet Sauvignon is well-balanced and can be consumed alone, with cheese, or with many other dishes and is not an overpowering bomb that would be suitable only with steak. — a year ago
