30 years. Fresh and bright out of the gate. Some cherry, quite acidic. Chalky. So for a good hour I was thinking man - great vintage, site and wine maker but was not really convinced. 12 hours later the wine is still in the same spot now with some oxygen. Basically I expect old burghs to be unique - rare one offs with secondary flavor profiles (what was that?) - this was not it. Classic may be - but not more. I would argue drink this up more years will not make a difference. — 4 months ago
On the lean side but still very fresh and vibrant. Finesse. — 4 years ago
Medium dark rubi robe, with slight fading on the rims. Nose of dark cherries, crushed flowers, top soil and spices. The wine is still reserved in the mouth even after one hour uncorked, very long and complex, still marked by the whole grape vinification, but tannins are polished and velvety. Another 5 years in the cellar will for sure payoff. This is an incredible red burgundy and it does not get much better than that. Enthusiastically recommended. — 12 hours ago
Domaine des Etangs — 4 months ago
Sourced largely from Les Longbois in Volnay with additional parcels in Puligny-Montrachet, this shows lifted red cherry, strawberry, cinnamon, and a hint of stemmy spice. The palate is plush and slightly lean, with bright acidity and fine, chalky tannins. More about balance and transparency than generosity, finishing fresh and savory. — 5 months ago
