Poured blind. Nose of cabernet sauvignon. Estate was located in Grignan, ie current CdR orbit (but post-war labeling hilarity / historical reference to classical Kingdom of Burgundy with capital at Arles?). Fascinating, dazzling, unexplainable. Color guesses ran ‘70s (totally clear rim, some super thin hint of browning, but still very pure dark core running almost to the edge before). Great length, but again blind we all called cabernet nose for the minty, cedary character. Body maybe suggested some cinsault, but we were all way off mark served blind. Since I'm in Bordeaux, my #FridayCabernetfix needs to be from here.
Dark ruby in color with a short reddish rim.
Beautiful nose of blueberries, black plums, currants, cedar, chocolates, earth, vegetables, spices, tobacco leaf, dark coffee, dark chocolates, herbs, black tea and black pepper.
Full-bodied and elegant with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with black currants, plums, cooked cherries, spices, cedar, licorice, chocolates, dark coffee, pencil lead, earth and light vegetables.
Long finish with round tannins and tangy cherries.
This is a delicious 13 year old Cabernet Sauvignon based blend from Saint Julien. Rich and fruit forward. Elegant and nicely balanced with a soft mouthfeel.
This Second Growth Bordeaux is starting to show age on the nose, but the palate is still fresh tasting. Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 to 15 years.
Shows good structure with nice tannins. Expressive, and good by itself or with food.
A blend of 67% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot and 6% Petit Verdot. Aged in (80% new) French Oak barrels for 18 months.
13.5% alcohol by volume.
92 points.
