More notes later. Trust me. Wow wow wow wow.

It’s basically DRC Montrachet in Viognier form. Insanely elegant.

In an attempt to "hang" with my wine distributor friend tonight, I ventured out of my comfort zone with this syrah grenache blend and was pleasantly surprised. RP-kissed this one for a reason - big and bold - aromatic - a very good value drinkable. Paired nicely with my salmon and spinach salad. By day, I seek value in the bond market to pass along to my customers, so this got me thinking: what is/are the best value wine(s) you're drinking right now?? #sharethelove — 9 years ago

That's a tough one Meg. So many great chefs in this town. The 3 we frequent the most would be- 1. FIG. 2. The Macintosh 3. McCrady's.

Copain

Kiser "En Haut" Anderson Valley Pinot Noir 2011

Mason Balistreri
9.2

Why is everyone sad that Copain sold to KJ? I predict that the prices will be better and the quality will be more consistent. Don't make me remind you of the 2015 rose which was completely reductive to the point that I had to send cases back to the distributor. It didn't even blow off after 2 days! Anyways, this is a good bottle. When these are too young, they taste like warhead candy, but with just a few years on them, they taste like perfect black berries that just now became ripe. Also, Ray blind tasted me on this and I called it down to the producer. — 9 years ago

You answered your own question. Consistency is exactly what we wish to avoid. We don't need any more Cali wines that taste the same year after year from manipulation.

@Neil Barham Your dumb to not want consistent quality. Does that mean that it should taste the same every year? Of course not! I am the most die hard natural wine person you will ever meet and I am telling you right now that the Copain rose I had was ruined by excessive so2 last year. I don't want manipulation. People confuse the bullshit marketing for the matters of fact. Just because a wine is small production and uses whole cluster doesn't make it natural or un-manipulated. Too many wineries are riding this low alcohol and whole cluster trend right now and Copain was one of them.
