The only thing better than this Bressler today was the company of my friends, family, gorgeous wife, daughter & grand daughter!!! Wine truly encapsulates an event and I could not think of a better way to highlight this Fathers day than to uncork a beautiful vintage that I've been saving for a special occasion. I killed 4 bottles of Bressler today. It was my 1st time tasting his 2013. Absolutely freaking amazing. Big, bold, Rich and opulent. Bob Bressler is a master at his craft. I've never lead any of you wrong before in regards to wines that I am passionate about. No Bullshit: buy this. Freaking amazing! I was snapping necks all day!! People would immediately turn and say "Holy shit, what is this!?!?!". I've said this a thousand times but I'll say it again: Bressler flys under the radar. Snatch up as much as you can right from the winery at a great price. Bob is a badass winery owner and loves it when you call!! Call on Tuesday since I'll be calling on Monday for another case and want to be sure that he has capacity!!!! Believe me., you won't regret it!!
This was the wine of the day and everything else we enjoyed was such a distant 2nd that I won't even post them! Bob deserves today's title of being the "Bad ass in a glass " wine of the night! Bravo my friend @Bob Bressler !!!!! — 7 years ago
Wow. One of only 3 grand cru Corton Blanc produced in the world. This is special. Pineapple, dried mango, and Meyer lemon up front. The palate is broad and expansive; roasted nuts, petrol, mixed with citrus and earth. The finish goes on and on.... 2 minutes+ Dinner with the wine maker in early February. @David A Lentine you need to tag along and meet her! Thank you @ADAM STROMFELD for sharing this gem. — 8 years ago
Nez plutot discret malgré l'ouverture de la bouteille une heure avant. En bouche, c'est beaucoup plus attrayant, sur le fruit et les fleurs mais n'affiche pas encore toute la complexité souhaitée. Tres bonne longueur. Sera meilleur dans 5-10 ans — 8 years ago
The wine of the night! Head to head with five other high end 2005 Cabernet Sauvignons! Absolutely beautiful expression of CS. Went with everything we ate and was the clear winner in a blind tasting with Chateau Montelena, Robert Mondavi Oakville (finished second), Regusci Angelo's Vineyard, Beringer Private Reserve, and Chateau Grand Puy Lacoste. Not too often that a group can taste this many wines blind and choose a clear winner! Way to go David Ramey, again!! — 8 years ago
Baked apple, cinnamon, graham cracker, wild mushroom, pink salt, graphite. Very expressive, Elegant, complex, well-aged. Silky on palate, delicate finish. Great example of well-made Burgundy. — 9 years ago

Chablisienne nose of crushed oyster shells and ocean air. The palate has electric fruit and piercing minerality. Brings to mind a Grand Cru Alsatian Riesling yet with fine bubbles. Lovely wine! — 7 years ago

@Martin G Rivard i don't know if a case is enough! Been thinking about this all day. Absolutely gorgeous. Bright and elegant, raspberry-slight citrus note. Firm floral finish. Love this. @David L — 7 years ago
@Kirk Alexander @David L @Joe Lucca @Mike Rowe @Ron R I brought this gorgeous beast to the party. Kirk and I both placed it slightly behind the insignia since that had such bottle age to it and was drinking perfectly. However, we could both truly appreciate the amount of perfection this bottle contained. Time will indeed round out the wine BUT OMG was it still immensely, insanely great right now! I don't regret popping one of these early at all in anyway shape or form. Awesomeness in a glass! Bravo Mike!! @Mike Smith — 7 years ago

What a beautiful person inside and out! I'm blessed beyond measure to be able to call him "Dad". Words can't adequately express how much I Love him. We opened a few bottles last night that I will hold near and dear to my heart forever. We are celebrating his completion of 6 rounds of chemo therapy in his battle against Prostate cancer. This is his 3rd time in the ring against this opponent and it appears that he's won with a unanimous decision by knockout at this time!!!!!! Love you dad!!!!! So proud of your strength through this process. My Father was born in 1940. A difficult year to say the least:
Germans entered Bordeaux in June of 1940. As dictated by Hitler himself, it was the sworn duty of each and every commander to search and seize whatever could be used for the advancement of the German cause. Bedlam broke out. Chateaux' were ransacked, wine cellars were looted if not used for target practice. The Chateauxs were forced to continue producing wines. It's poetic justice that Mother Nature provided the Germans with the worst growing season from 1940 to 1944!!!! The Germans left Bordeaux in 1944 to the cheers of the residents "Au Revoir Les Allemands"!!!! The 1940 bottle that we enjoyed this evening survived World War II. It Survived the ransacking, pillaging & plunder of countless German soldiers. It's outer capsule showed evident signs of its struggle but it's inner beauty was unblemished and glorious. I've had many, many vintages of Latour from 1928 and on but none have ever tasted as perfect as the one we enjoyed tonight. This 1940 was perfect. It was a fighter, it never gave up, it never relinquished in the face of adversity. That's my Father, that my role model. He's a beautiful person inside & out. I think 1940 is the best vintage that I have ever had the privilege to enjoy. Special thanks to my good friends Michael Troise whom provided me with much of the insights in regards to the incredibly difficult vintage and David Page whom gifted this bottle to me for our celebration this evening. I will never forget your generosity. It was a glorious evening to say the least!!! Wine has a way of bringing people together and encapsulating an evening and event. I couldn't think of a better way to rejoice in his victory than to open a Father & Son birth year wine. — 7 years ago
@David A Lentine holding this beauty. Of course, since I can't tag @Martin G Rivard I'm listing him here. — 8 years ago
I visited Kenzo Estate with a group of friends and purchased Ai and Murasaki Cabernet Sauvignon after the tour and wine tasting. Asatsuyu was not available at that time. If you have not visited Kenzo Estate, I recommend everyone to do so to truly appreciate what they go through to make their wines. The estate is so beautiful it will blow you away. Kenzo Estate conducts wine event every year at the Halekulani Hotel which I attend and have bought cases of Asatsuyu, Aiko, and Murasaki set. You cannot purchase Kenzo wines at the wine stores. Some select restaurants carry them but the prices are extremely high due to difficulty in buying these wines. In Japan's high-end restaurants like Oak Door at Grand Hyatt in Roppongi, Kenzo wines like Ai and Murasaki were $900+. It's not every day wine but if you appreciate what went in to making these wine with the professionals Kenzo Tsujimura hired (Heide Barrett, Winemaker and David Abreu, Vinyard Manager), you know he hired the best in business to "create the greatest, most elegant wines."
Today is my birthday and celebrating this occasion with friend by sharing my Asatsuyu, Ai, and Murasaki. — 8 years ago
