I really enjoyed this, even on Day 2. My husband said, "Too earthy," but maybe that's what I liked best. — 3 years ago
On Cecile at cellar rat. Light with a bit of spice. Good for second night — 6 years ago
This is perhaps a little closed right now. Syrah-dominant with a fair bit of oak-treatment so will need a little while to blossom. Although it had the mellow character of an early-drinking wine, the winemaker told me that it needs 15 years to show its best. In fact, when I told him the 2006 I opened the other week seemed a little closed he told me to forget about it for another 10 years. Clearly one for the long-haul. — 6 years ago
Top end Faugeres in excellent shape, though still a good 6-8 years from its peak. Just returning from a dumb phase and heavy with blackberries, pumbs, pepper, and hints of leather and oak (though not too much). Glad I bought a few cases of this from them at the Fête de Bacchus back in 2009. — 6 years ago

Soooo much potential. Way too young and a little bit numb at the moment but hints of those complex old mouvèdre scents are just starting to develop. Not her greatest year but still far from its peak. Keep for at least another 10-12 years before opening. Glad I have quite a few cases of this in hibernation. — 6 years ago
Painfully French. Garrigue and dusty fruit. Layer on layer and wonderful acidity — 6 years ago
Incredibly expressive nose of dried rose petal and forest floor gives way surprisingly round body with a suave grip and structure. Licorice, candied violets, lingering warm biscuit? — 8 years ago
Lovely wine, dinner, and wife 😊 — 3 years ago
This wine is an awesome value. My new house wine. — 6 years ago
Blackcurrant and spice box with good concentration. There's a bit of forest floor funk in there, especially on the finish. For the price, this is a great buy. — 7 years ago

Not a bad recco at $17. Lively, not too sweet and very big notes of fruit. I get some yeast, some cherry, some pineapple and peach. Dry on the finish — 3 years ago
