Very impressive. Even blind this was not that hard to pin down as Ygrec. Even though it's a dry wine with tons of sauv blanc grapefruit character there is an almost muscat-like echo of sweetness without actually being sweet that screams Sauternes, and none of the other dry Sauternes have the power and footprint of Yquem which is evident even here. From their first vintage, this is a merlot-driven meritage. Hard to pin down in terms of flavors - an unusual combination of primary and secondary components - that actually improved in the glass. I'm a bit more partial to their more recent vintages, but still a terrific wine. — 10 years ago
