Very impressive. Even blind this was not that hard to pin down as Ygrec. Even though it's a dry wine with tons of sauv blanc grapefruit character there is an almost muscat-like echo of sweetness without actually being sweet that screams Sauternes, and none of the other dry Sauternes have the power and footprint of Yquem which is evident even here. A delicious wine that should show even more in the next few years. With notes of kirsch and black currant, this soft, but complex wine is delicious. It has slight herbaceous undertones that round out the fruit forwardness. Probably one of the better Chat. Du Papes from this vintage. — 9 years ago

From their first vintage, this is a merlot-driven meritage. Hard to pin down in terms of flavors - an unusual combination of primary and secondary components - that actually improved in the glass. I'm a bit more partial to their more recent vintages, but still a terrific wine. — 9 years ago
