Not a 1er Cru, but it should be! Lovely Vosne. Velvet, sappy cherry fruit with Vosne spice. Hints of vanilla and stones. A whiff of oak char on the nose, but less so on the palate. Decanted for 2 hours prior to consumption. — 4 years ago
From a lieu dit surrounded by Gevrey. Definitely young but with a couple hour decant quite enjoyable and accessible. Tons of sweet cherry on the nose; aromatically really quite intense. Full on the palate, get more tannin than I was expecting, but very nicely balanced by a lot of acid. Enjoyed it with a roast chicken provencal but could have stood up to red meat too. Nice qpr at ~$30. Note this is not the “cuvee unique”, which apparently a 100% new oak bottling - this is the regular which is 85% old. — 5 years ago
Drinking well - earthy with a little funk — 8 years ago
Great balance of cherries, minerality and tannins. Decant and enjoy. Solid QPR. — 4 years ago
Strawberries and cherries. A little bit of smoke. Very pleasant on the tongue and not too heavy tannins — 5 years ago
Nice clean, balanced wine. Roundness that ends in an acid pop at the finish. One of the more complex wines of this variety that I have had. — 6 years ago
Truly stunning- a complete wine with power and finesse. Bursting with sweet red fruit. Intense minerality. Ample weight without feeling heavy, and a finish that seems to last all day. The delicacy and sweetness of Volnay with the power and structure of Gevrey. Leather, licorice, tobacco, smoke. In a blind tasting this would be hard for me to differentiate from a 1er cru Burgundy. Easily the best Sancerre rouge I’ve had the opportunity to taste. Will age for 15 years or more. Gorgeous wine. — 7 years ago

Deep ruby; medium intensity aromas of blackberry, black plum, blueberry, bramble, forest floor, mineral, dried herbs, vanilla, cloves, anise; developing; dry, medium plus acid, medium plus tannins, high alcohol, medium body, medium plus intensity flavors of blackberry, black plum skin, dried herbs, cinnamon, clove, old leather — 7 years ago
I tried this right out of the bottle and was a little worried - super tight and one dimensional - but after two hours open it was singing and I was smiling. The nose has a more savory profile but the palate is full of bright red fruits with crushed gravel on the finish. Super smooth - the fruit and spice from the Grenache keeps the gaminess/savory flavors of the Syrah in check while the Mourvèdre adds richness. Helen Keplinger is a genius when it comes to these new world “old world blends” - I have yet to have one from her that hasn’t been fantastic. — 7 years ago
