Château Cadet Pontet

Château Pontet-Canet

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend

Concentrated and powerful. Also a very clean, fruity (ripe fruits of the forest) and classy wine. Underbrush. All kinds of herbs (like laurel and thyme). Went well with confit de canard, Belgian fries and lentils with fennel, and after that it stood its ground pretty solid. Great with food. Compelling food for thought when drunk on it’s own. — a month ago

Château Grand-Pontet

Saint-Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2010

Lunch 🥪

K&L notes as follows, Grand Pontet is an interesting property, positioned in the neighborhood of other stars of the appellation such as Châteaux Canon, Beau-Séjour-Bécot and Clos Fourtet. It is, however, a small estate, a mere 14 hectares, and its prices are much better than some of its more prestigious neighbors. In 1980 it was purchased by Gerard and Dominique Bécot, owners of the neighboring Beau-Séjour-Bécot. They have applied the same high standards to both Châteaux in their possession, and their winemaking team crafts Grand Pontet alongside the Beau-Séjour-Bécot wines. Recently purchased in 2021 by Domaines Clarence Dillon (Haut-Brion, La Mission Haut-Brion, et al.), the property was combined with and incorporated into Château Quintus. Full-bodied and luscious, this Grand Pontet is laden with ripe blackberry fruits, savory tobacco, licorice notes, and ripe, softened tannins. It’s seamless and bold, not shy. It’s going to require something decadent to pair with, such as filet mignon or some other black-tie dish with plenty of flavor and rich umami presence.

Montirius

Le Cadet de Montirius Vin de Pays de Vaucluse 2015

Lovely aged wine with ripe cherry, plum, rum and hint of tobacco. It remains on the light and elegant side of life nevertheless. Yes, one sip wont pleasure the palate for long, but the flavours are intense and the acid is fresh. Lovely wine for a nice price — 5 months ago

Out of mag. At almost 20 years, thought it needed a few more. — 2 months ago

Château Cadet-Pontet

St. Émilion Grand Cru Red Bordeaux Blend 2010

A bit funky on the nose from this bottle. Dusty notes, earth, salt, briny olive and olive tapenade from the Merlot base. Tons of acid still driving this backbone. 15.5%, this finish isn’t messing around. — 9 months ago

Neal Family Vineyards

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2009

Neal never stops impressing!!! Would have guessed Bordeaux all the way. 1hr+ decant. Nose of dark cherries, cedar, and menthol. Blue and black fruit on the palate with well integrated alcohol. Medium depth and medium plus finish. Reminds me of Chateau Pontet-Canet but 1/5 of the price. Neal rocks!! — a year ago
