Château Cadet Pontet

Château Pontet-Canet

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 2015

We visited there in the early summer of 2015 and now we got to try the fruits of their labor in the vineyard we witnessed at that time. A bio-dynamic vineyard with horse and plow 😁. Their wines are fantastic. This wine was richer in fruit and more expressive than perhaps characteristic for the Pauillac region. But the layers of earth infused flavors and the most subtle hint of ‘barnyard’ made it a sensation. Topped off with a grippy finish keeping the flavors lingering in your throat. www.spokenwines.com. — 13 days ago

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2009

9.5

Neal never stops impressing!!! Would have guessed Bordeaux all the way. 1hr+ decant. Nose of dark cherries, cedar, and menthol. Blue and black fruit on the palate with well integrated alcohol. Medium depth and medium plus finish. Reminds me of Chateau Pontet-Canet but 1/5 of the price. Neal rocks!! — 2 years ago

Château Cadet-Piola

Saint-Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 1989

1989 vintage. A rather obscure Cru Classé that was owned at the time by the Jabiol family. In 2009 it was sold to a French insurance group who sadly incorporated Cadet Piola into Soutard. Last vintage of Cadet-Piola produced was 2011. Typical of this estate was the high percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon in the vineyards ( 28%). Considering the quality of this beautiful 34 years old Saint-Emilion and the original label ( drawn by a previous owner), it is a pity to see it disappear, but apparently, it lost its classification in 2012, which is probably the explanation. Anyway, this is a delicious wine that shows no signs of fatigue with a deep red colour, an attractive cedary, black fruit nose that could be mistaken for left bank. In the mouth, it still shows good, ripe fruit, with an impeccable balance and a long , cedary finish. Abv. 13%. Well worth seeking out. — 6 months ago
