Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a couple hours. The 2020 pours a deep ruby purple with a near opaque core and a magenta rim; medium viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is youthful with notes of Montmorency cherry, tart plums, licorice, purple flowers, cocoa, and gravelly earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. Tasty stuff and a very nice pairing with braised short rib. Deep ruby. Powerful black/blue fruit, incense, Indian spice and vanilla aromas on the expressive nose, with a smoky mineral quality adding urgency. Offers sweet, densely packed boysenberry, cherry cola and spicecake flavors that spread out steadily on the palate, picking up an exotic hint of star anise and a touch of licorice on the back half. On the nose - flowery and lots of blackberries/strawberries.
On the palette - blackberries, sour cherry, and stone/gravel. Somewhat earthy, but not funky.
I was surprised at the tannin (med+) and has good acidity. Would go well with food.

Reminds me of a Beaujolais, but less of that jammy character and more minerality. Longer finish too. Decently complex and interesting wine. — 3 years ago
