Hacienda Solano

Seleccion Ribera del Duero Tinta del Pais 2019

Quite complex, intense nose. Aromas of ripe dark fruit, some herbal notes and moka. Bold, round, smooth

Honig

Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2019

Clearance priced at local supermarket, 63/29/8 blend of grapes from Napa, Lake and Solano Counties. Straw and herbal notes in nose. Straw, white peach, blood orange and lime flavors. Rounded body, restrained acidity with lemon-herb and mineral notes on finish. Worthy and on point for the variety. Winery notes “aged on lees” which explains some nuances in the mouth. 96.8/2.7/0.3 blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and Muscat — 4 years ago

Love! First had this at the second wine tasting at Esther’s. Such a great, lighter red drinking wine, but it has a full taste. — 4 years ago

Hacienda Solano

Viñas Viejas Ribera del Duero Tinta del Pais 2016

Hacienda Solano’s signature wine from 60+ year old vines in La Aguilera, one of the cooler and most sought after areas in Ribera del Duero. Elegant, balanced, very little oak. Hints of licorice, herbal (mint) notes. Somewhat spicy finish — 6 years ago

Solano County Green Valley Valdiguié 2019

I love trying and exploring wines, but then I open this and wonder why I just don’t drink this forever. So fresh, so pretty, good acidity, tannin, and fruit, all of it balanced. Year after year this is my favorite broc wine. — 4 years ago

Menorca Blanc Chardonnay Blend 2015

First wine from Menorca drinking on Menorcan soil. Chardonnay blend with Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malvasia, Moscatell and Macabeu. With the heat here - currently 28 degrees at 10:30am - I assume they need to be very diligent at picking at the right time, ensuring the grapes don’t become full and fat and overly sweet. Surprised this was relatively dry with a tart finish. Medium bodied, good acid, and a fragrant nose of orange peel and melon. A perfect pairing with the lobster stew. — 5 years ago

Xoriguer

Mahón Gin

Blown away.
Delightful herbal aromatics , and when paired with your favorite tonic, a kafir lime kind of thing cones out and really graces the tongue.
Hard to find outside of España. If you do, grab a few! A cult gin from Mahon in Menorca, Xoriguer is one of the only gins in the world (alongside Plymouth) to have a geographical indication, Gin de Menorca. Gin has been made on Menorca since the 18th century British occupation and Xoriguer commands a devoted following of happy travellers. Unusually, Xoriguer is made in wood-fired pot stills from distilled wine (eau-de-vie) rather than the more usual grain-based distillate, and is rested in oak barrels before bottling.
