Super smooth and dark zin at an amazing price at TJs. Lots of dark berries, plum, touch of smoke and dark chocolate. Even better the next day. At TJs Was able to get a little more but now it’s gone. — 4 years ago
Bangerang. Lotsa personality. Beautiful representation of the region. #buybuybuy — 5 years ago
Really loving this wine! Bright green apple acidity with a spicy herbal finish. I should have ordered more! This will definitely be a summer go to! — 5 years ago
An explosion of dark ripe cherry, plum and BlackBerry. Hot at 15% a.b.v. , but smooth with no burn.
Mild tannins, lingering finish. If your reading this, please try it. $15 at my local liquor store.
One of the best red blends I've tried.
Paired with red potatoes, veg. Medley and roasted chicken. — 6 years ago
I’ve never evaluated vodka, but it smells like candy corn. And it’s delightful. Especially when tasted against a wheat vodka which just smells like rubbing alcohol. On its own this is a great sipping vodka with a beautiful rich soft mouthfeel — 7 years ago
Love the dried fruit (Black Current and fig ) to go along with blueberry. The wine exhibits both power and finesse and has a very pleasant lingering finish — 3 years ago
An old standard in our household. Velvety smooth, rich juicy berries. Glad we can purchase Freakshow even at Costco in TX and have a solid, boozy Cab at the ready. — 4 years ago
Mid Ruby in colour. Red fruits of cherry and strawberry with a bit of whole bunch influence on the nose. The palate showing savoury red fruits but also a little sweetness. Certainly a good future in front of it - I should try the next one in 1 to 2 years time. Tom Carson has probably never made a bad wine in his life and he has a great terroir to work with when he is not in demand for judging at Royal Shows. Tasted another bottle 65 weeks later on 24th July 2022. Quite red cherry on the nose and palate. Sooty notes from whole bunch in the ferment. The perfect balance between sweet and savoury. — 4 years ago

Toby Hill crafts a delicate Pinot Noir with a Burgundian ethos that speaks to the essence of site. This captures all the classic elements of the Cerise Vineyard, a site that remains a personal favorite. Rose petal, raspberries and cream, crushed minerals and salt, and of course its namesake tart red cherry flavors form a gossamer, ethereal wine that feels lighter than air. A taste of Chambolle in the Anderson Valley. — 7 years ago

Planted in 1886 and currently under the stewardship of the Phillips family. Popped and poured; consumed over two days. The 2019 Cinsault currently pours a bright, brilliant ruby with a translucent core. Medium viscosity. Whoa…this wine is fresh and juicy! Flavors of Blackberry Izzy, bruised apple, Clementine mandarins, boozy pineapple, and Laughy Taffy. Medium tannin with medium, maybe medium + acid. A really pretty wine and quite delicious. This is a fabulous summer red! I found this to be even more enjoyable the second day so a little patience will be rewarded. 8 barrels produced. — 4 years ago
Gorgeous. Thought we'd waited too long to open this 2008, but it's amazing. Ripe cherries, a touch of port, and a little forest floor. Really special. — 5 years ago
Rich and warm with a smooth finish. Sri king it with a pork roast this evening I think it’s going to be amazing — 5 years ago
So good! I always drink it too fast. Finally let it open up I. The glass tonight. Beautiful. Red fruit, slight floral notes and just a bit of earth. — 6 years ago
One of the most perfectly balanced light white wines I’ve ever tasted.
Far too easy to drink, would pair excellently with fresh salad dishes.
The perfect wine for entertaining yourself on a sunny day...

I so rarely encounter a great Gewürztraminer from outside Alsace, and when I do, it’s most likely from the Anderson Valley. This Phillips Hill bottling is no exception. Striking in its aromatic intensity - dried ginger, rose water, thyme, pine sap, crushed stones, and white pepper - the wine is vinified nearly bone dry, resulting in a taut, lean structure that moves with spritely dynamism. The floral and spice tones meet fruitier flavors on the palate - white peach and lemon soda. A far cry from the California Chardonnays and Sauvignon Blancs that dominate the Golden State’s white wine scene. — 7 years ago

Nose not giving much initially - just an earthy note - fairly contained. Probably opened a little young? The next night it showed red fruited aromatics of raspberry and strawberry. Very fine on the palate and quite delicious. The winemaker and owner Tom Carson with his French wife, Nadege, just won Viticulturalist of the year 2 days ago in the Halliday Wine Awards. They also import a range of Burgundies. In his “spare time “ Tom is also the winemaker at the highly regarded Yabby Lake. — 3 years ago
