Les Amoureux by Xavier Vignon, another single-vintage wine in the Arcane portfolio, is a beautiful embodiment of the southern Rhône from the spectacular 2016 vintage. A blend of 80% Grenache, with the 20% split between Mourvèdre, Cinsault and Caladoc, and sourced from the AOCs of Gigondas, Lirac, Vacqueyras, Beaumes-de-Venise and Rasteau, it’s a fragrant but powerful wine that balances bright red fruit, dollops of garrigue and a smokey character with a good amount of acidity and tannin characteristic of a young Rhône wine. A basic Côtes du Rhône given the blend of multiple terroirs, this is the finest of Vignon’s wines that I’ve tasted to date and it should age well for the next decade. — 6 years ago
Not bad full bodied rose, had with Black Forest ham. — 7 years ago
When in Israel drink…Caladoc? Kinda like a Rhone blend, but more green & astringent though not in a bad way. High toned red fruits. Menthol & pine sap in the background. A blend of 38% Caladoc/24 % Carignan/18 Argiman/8 Grenache/6 Petit Verdot/6 Shiraz. From Carmel, in the north. Definitely does better w air on day 2- the astringency gets more integrated. — 3 years ago

Carmel Winery, 4 Vats. A pleasent blend with Marselan, Carignan and Caladoc. Brilliant red color, very balanced and smooth on the palete. Great as a weekday wine. — 5 years ago

Purple in color with a wide reddish/ purple rim.
Sweet nose with red fruits, spices, light oak and chocolates.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with blueberries, currants, plums, cherries, light oak, dark coffee, pencil lead, earth, tobacco leaf, herbs, light vegetables and peppercorn.
Spicy finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.
This is a very young red blend from Israel. Easy drinking right out of the bottle, and a nice sipping wine.
Fruit forward and interesting. Feels like a Cotes du Rhône red.
Would be nice to revisit it in a couple of years.
I paired it with cheeses, nuts and fresh berries.
A very unique blend of Caladoc, Carignan, Argaman, Grenache, Petit Verdot and Syrah. Aged for 8 months. Kosher and not Mevushal.
14% alcohol by volume.
89 points.
