Nice woody, dusty nose. Dark burgundy color. Slightly reminiscent of Cakebread but not as good or powerful. Overall, underwhelming for the price. — 3 years ago
Best chardonnay I've had in years- easily beats Cakebread, bringing a lighter overall impression without losing complexity or surrendering buttery notes. BEP selection, 4/2019. — 5 years ago
The reviews on this are fascinating! After having the cakebread a few nights ago it is amazing how close these wines are. This is beautiful cherry and raspberry fruit with a hint of pepper and good tannin. I’m guessing that provenance of this wine is the key to difference of reviews or garagiste truly received something different in the bottle. Great qpr from my tasting. — 6 years ago
This was drank on Feb 2017 with venison, pork porter house and grilled trout after sleigh ride to 10,000' and following great Cakebread Chardonnay. Full of dark berry, wonderful taste and dry. One best pinot's I have had. Will look for what is available. Highly recommended. — 7 years ago
Very underwhelming. Higher tannins than expected too. — 7 months ago
Definitely a new world big cab blend. Heavy but very pleasant oak. Big wine, but Syrah is a nice way to balance out the heavy tannins of cab. Would definitely buy again, though pricey. Same category as Cakebread IMO. — 4 years ago
Gun Bun does it again. Always shocked with how great their wines are for the money. Wines I believe are still being made by Keith Emerson. Cakebread, Martin Ray alum and cohort of Phillipe Melka. With how long these wines have been around, I still consider them an insider’s find. Under $20 a bottle. — 6 years ago
Big. Some fruit. Tight in a smooth way. Tracy preferred 06 cakebread from night before but would do it again for 40 — 6 years ago
Good wine in a great place right now! Great density. Tasted the 10, 11, and the 12 with Ms Cakebread in our recent trip. I think she was surprised we didn't like the 12. Parker gave this one a 93, which I shockingly agree with. I think this wine has incredible depth and density, but it was ready to go at pop and pour without any decanting needed. I don't think this is too age worthy, which is shocking given its AVA. FWIW, it seems Crocker&Starr and Paradigm Francs are just better "built." Still this is a indisputably good wine with great acidity, fruit core, tannin, and finish. More on Cellartracker. — 7 years ago
Like skinny dipping in the Gulf of Mexico. Smooth and freeing. — 8 months ago
A toast to Rosemary Cakebread as we sit to watch season 4 of the CROWN, highlighting other incredible Trail Blazers - PM Thatcher, Queen Elizabeth II, and Diana. This cab can really go another 10 years plus, but enjoyable now with some decanting. cedar and tannins on the nose - casis and fruit on the palette. — 4 years ago
Lloyd made the rounds working at a bunch of renowned wineries, Cakebread, Stag’s Leap, La Crema & Rombauer where he gained Head Winemaker status before leaving in 2008 to start his own project, Lloyd Cellars. Fruit sourced from blocks in Sangiacomo & Truchard Vineyards, aged for 10 months in new American oak. Aromas of ripe stone & tropical fruits, citrus and blossom notes. Palate has apple, pear & peach flavors with bits of citrus wrapped in a creamy texture. Long rich finish ending with slight toasty notes. Tasting Sample. — 4 years ago
Literally one of my favorite reds. The 2014 is drinking nicely — 6 years ago
Amazing Pinot! — 6 years ago
Big, jammy, and rich with some dark chocolate spice. Right in line with the other big Napa Cabs we love like Cakebread, Far Niente, Nickel & Nickel, etc. Ordered this at Sonoma. WBA — 7 years ago
Excellent, but not quite up to a Cakebread Reserve Chardonnay — 7 years ago
