Ruby color with aromas of red berry fruit, forest floor notes and sweet spices. On the palate ripe black cherry and blackberry flavors, with some dried fruit notes, tea, toasty vanilla oak, cinnamon spice and cola tones. Robert Pepi Vine Hill Ranch. Vines at the time 30+years old. If you can find 1981-87. I recommend trying a bottle. Now the hillside portion of this winery are sold to...Tor, Araujo, Lail, ETC. Valley floor is all Cakebread. — 6 years ago

Definitely a new world big cab blend. Heavy but very pleasant oak. Big wine, but Syrah is a nice way to balance out the heavy tannins of cab. Would definitely buy again, though pricey. Same category as Cakebread IMO. — 6 years ago

This was drank on Feb 2017 with venison, pork porter house and grilled trout after sleigh ride to 10,000' and following great Cakebread Chardonnay. Full of dark berry, wonderful taste and dry. One best pinot's I have had. Will look for what is available. Highly recommended. — 9 years ago

Got this at Cakebread in Napa in February 2020 for about $45. (Their tour is amazing and they're so nice there.) This red blend is just so balanced and enjoyable. Some earthy, some berry flavor. Great with grilled steak and chocolate. — 5 years ago

A toast to Rosemary Cakebread as we sit to watch season 4 of the CROWN, highlighting other incredible Trail Blazers - PM Thatcher, Queen Elizabeth II, and Diana. Lloyd made the rounds working at a bunch of renowned wineries, Cakebread, Stag’s Leap, La Crema & Rombauer where he gained Head Winemaker status before leaving in 2008 to start his own project, Lloyd Cellars. Fruit sourced from blocks in Sangiacomo & Truchard Vineyards, aged for 10 months in new American oak. Aromas of ripe stone & tropical fruits, citrus and blossom notes. Palate has apple, pear & peach flavors with bits of citrus wrapped in a creamy texture. Long rich finish ending with slight toasty notes. Tasting Sample. — 6 years ago
