Funky! Obviously cab franc with pepper and dried fruits. Not as good as I remember the first bottle. — 8 years ago

Interesting, very rich and rounded, a lot of vine, garrigue, earth. Nicely balanced with fine tannins. — 9 years ago

Valais Merlot 2014

Almost 2 1/2 years later, same case, even more confused now. On the nose fresh cut bell peppers. Dense and dark. Mostly leaves, earth, forest floor. Flavor profile still dominated by charred oak, though not so smoky. — 6 years ago

Swiss wine does exist. Beautifully crafted late harvest fendant. They harvest in December after the grappes have been frozen at least three Times. — 13 years ago

Though not the same as it was pre-COVID -19, a handful of us were able to gather (while keeping our distance) to celebrate being back together and opened some fun wines to share. Wine is always better with good company.

One of two champagnes for the evening (the other being a Cédric Bouchard Val Villane, which I posted about a few weeks ago). A producer I’m semi familiar with. Rich and dense aromatics in that oxidative style, but it’s more fruit driven than I expected. Some yeast, good bit of chalk and limestone. Bruised pear, caramel dipped golden delicious apple and apple strudel too. Acidity was mellow and it toed the line of champagne and still wine. A champagne I’d like to try again. Thanks

Stunning cab franc that pleases this major (cab)francophile. All my favorite tobacco flavors with some touches of blueberry and earth with a gentle feel to boot. — 7 years ago
