Extremely earthy nose. Cranberry tart with pepper and forest on the finish. Very enjoyable — 8 years ago
Wow, this shows the extreme difference between botrytis infected👎(inflected) 👎wines and non. Last night, 97 knoll, Gruner Smargd. Tonight, 97 Prager Riesling Smargd ( non botrytis inflected/ infected)
What a frickin delish non infected wine. Prager; absolutely gorgeous after 18 years! Bright yellow with incredible depth of fruit while still having amazing acidity at this age. The Knoll , While drinkable, was past its prime.
sign me up for Prager, Niholiahof & Alzinger (among others) — 10 years ago

Excelente, muy tipico para Grüner Veltliner, seco, aromatico, especiado — 7 years ago
One of the better Wachau Gruner I've had, without a doubt. Complex, rich, elegant, herbal- everything Gruner should be. Lovely citrus aromas, intensely herbal flavors. There's a "brothiness" in texture, a certain kind of salinity, that I find very refreshing. At this price point I must say that it is more appealing to the GV devotees out there, but I say so reluctantly because it is a wine with great charm and wonderful fruit that I think most anyone can enjoy. — 7 years ago

Beautiful answer to Chilean Pinot Noir with pronounced pink peppercorn. — 10 years ago
bright yellow green, aromas of petrol , white gummi bears, apricots and white flowers and canned mandarin oranges . Off dry, with palate of baked and fresh apricot, petrol, bitter orange pith , wildflower honey. A mouth full, delicious.

Beer of the summer. Need more. — 11 years ago
The dark gold color and apricot aromas reflect the botrytis that is common in 1998 Austrians and that I find brings a nice richness that plays well with a mineral edge and refreshing acidity. Still drinking very well, but it has probably peaked. — 7 years ago

Not a sour as I'd expect from a Guze but still enjoyable. — 9 years ago
Always a stunner. Quince and pineapple backed by sweet lemony citrus merge with spicy arugula and turnip purée. Botrytis is present, ginger-spicy but not over the top. Very dialed in on the ripeness, enough to give it a regal quality, but not overwhelmingly corpulent. Long finish driven by lingering pleasant bitterness and tangy acid. Crazy value in these wines. Similar quality producer and vineyard in burgundy would cost you 2-3x. — 10 years ago
