Alexandra Grande Cuvée Rosé Champagne 2004

Adam Foster
9.5

Tasted two bottles- slight variance but equally stunning- complex. Co-fermented Pinot Noir and Chardonnay- all GC, all 2004. Phenolic, brass-copper, extremely taut, linear and complex. Beautiful. — 7 years ago

Baiano Aspros Lagos 2015

Tasted 06/10/2016

"Follow the white hare" Trinity said. So did I...

Cretan indigenous Vidiano fermented and aged 5 months in barrels (40/60 acacia/oak)

Dense color of brass, golden glitters.
Powerful nasal attack of autumnal forest (note ageing in acacia & oak), melissa and ripe melon turns to opulence of caramel, banana, mango and passion fruit.
Full-bodied, oily and finely rounded palate with vivid yet perfectly integrated acidity and noticeable minerality. Mint candy, sun-dried apricot drink, melon, orange peels, white currant flavors (white plum dominates if wine is over chilled).
Finishes at slow pace, correspondent to palate.
Absolutely self-confident, we enjoyed it relaxing at last evening at Crete.

Yoichi Single Malt Whisky 1990

Brass in color. Perfumed aromas of lavender, dried grass, with subtle peat notes, dried red fruits, coconut, vanilla, and caramel in the finish. Rich mouthfeel. Integrated tannins. — 8 years ago

Mills Reef

Elspeth Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

Fantastic wine. A real concert. Starts really soft and quiet until the strings are added, the drums come in and the grand finally with all the brass. 2 minute finish. Earthy, mineral, deep dark fruit with soft but penetrating tannins. — 8 years ago

White Chocolate Almond Flavored Vodka

A chocolate flavored vodka which is incredibly delicious and not creamy. My friends love it in cocoa cola, but I think it's best chilled, straight up. — 9 years ago

Single Malt Scotch Whisky 17 years old

Berry's Caperdonich 17 Cask Ref.95077 46% 1995-2013 antique brass: A basket of green apples on a freshly mowed lawn: bright, apples w/vanilla & hints of cinnamon. A long finish w/notes of cedar - superb! — 9 years ago

Domaine de la Majone

Picpoul de Pinet 2015

A dry aromatic white from Languedoc. Mid Lemon in colour with a touch of brass. Initial aromas of Pear which developed into Fruit Salad with airing. The typical textural waxy fruity feel on the palate of many Mediterranean whites yet finishing dry. A delicious wine which would be a great accompaniment to shellfish/oysters. — 7 years ago

Poggio Le Volpi

Epos Frascati Superiore 2010

Tasted 16/10/2016

Third out of 3 bottles we bought during honeymoon trip 4 years ago. Being captured by heavy rain at Castel Gandolfo (residence of Pope), we nestled at lovely cellar tasting Poggio Le Volpi wines. Our photographer called us urgently to depict with double rainbow, whilst all locals were crying and shouting "auguri" )))

Frascati Superiore (Malvasia di Candia / Malvasia del Lazio / Trebbiano 50/40/10), harvested late, fermented in 40-hl oak vats for 40 days, kept on lees 3 months.

Dense brass to orange color, yellow gold glitters.
Surprisingly fresh nose of mint, sea salt, medlar, wet limestone, kumquat, roasted almond, touch of withered grass.
Off-dry (despite raising) palate, medium in body with quite lively acidity. Flavors of buckthorn, yellow plum, tangerine, soaked apple, apricot. Herbs on background.
Buckthorn, citrus peels and ginger apricot on slowly vanishing finish.
Was nice pair to flounder fillet.
8.5* actual, 9.0* considering other 2 bottles tasted "young".

Jumilla Monastrell

Visiting a Monastrell from Spain before going to see Herb Alpert tonight. Smooth, dark berries, balanced tannins. Nice. Hits the sharp notes like Herb,. BTW, nobody in the Tijuana Brass was Hispanic, and the band changed from album to album. Time to go hear Spanish Flea! — 8 years ago

Colt 45

Combined with orange juice, this is the nectar of the gods (aka the Brass Monkey). Malty & Citrusy is the best way to describe it. I was lucky enough to be in an establishment where I was able to keep the beverage chilled in a bucket. This produced optimal results. — 9 years ago

5 Puttonyos Tokaji Aszú Sweet Furmint Blend 2005

More interesting than good, but not bad. Color is brilliant and intense like polished brass. Nose has crushed honey comb and citrus zest/blossoms, with some raw almond undertones. Flavor is far more acidic than sweet but still nicely balanced. Great pair with fresh fruits but nothing that's too sweet on its own. — 11 years ago

Païen Chamoson Heida 2013

Tasted 28/04/2016

Vibrant, intriguing, eloquent nectar made of Heida (Savagnin Blanc), idiosyncratic to Valais.

Dense shimmering brass color, golden glitters.
Wet hay, mint, soaked apples, quince, sage, limestone, pinecone. Caramelized peach.
Fat-bodied, zesty palate. Lively acidity supported by tough mineral kick and kumquat peels, unripe cantaloupe, bruised quince, laurel, sage flavors.
Interminable finish...
Unique winexperience!
--------------
Pairings... I tried several ones.
First was 'C_Bro favorite': cute little bunny, trapped, skinned, disemboweled and baked in sourcream with allspice, garlic, onion, juniper, carrots and thyme.
Than - moderatetly spicy grilled reindeer sausages.
And finally mature + blue mold cheese plate.
All three played well.

Weingut Knoll

Loibner Loibenberg Federspiel Riesling 1999

Had it in January 2009.
Shiny gold. Delicious and complex. Cooked apples, brass, turmeric, white truffle, oregano, squids, petrol, candied pineapple, graphite, gunpowder. Obviously not all at once, but during a little while. All decorated by a ripe minerality (??) and a super long finish. Good freshness. I went back to buy all they had at the shop.

Kevin John Margaret River Chardonnay 2009

Probably at its delectable best; this #margaretriver #chardonnay from #cullen ; colour with bits of brass says so; and palate has nice brulee-roast nuts; more aged fruit aromas than first stage types; acid taut keeping it medium bodied and no more; a good drink with coral trout; #kevinjohn #biodynamic #13.5% #AUD105 — 8 years ago
