Had another bottle, Wow! Laura Catena, 4th gen winemaker, grew up in Argentine-Italian winemaking family in Mendoza. Wines, named after her children - Luca, Dante & Nicola - background of the label is the McDermott coat of arms of her American husband, Daniel McDermott. Single-vineyard wine from land belonging to the Laborde family. Deep red with big ripe fruits & smoky oak. Palate plum & jammy blackberry, spice with nice earthy character. Tannins are a bit rustic, lingering ending with toasty oak & spice. — 7 years ago

Unique expression. Considerable brett, right up to my threshold, meaty and animal, savory, tar and leather about. Its got time still, but the powerful Serralunga tannins hold strong despite their grace. Love this vintage and the spine of acid it carries, really lively and nervous wines. Solid by all means — 6 years ago

This wine is such a pleasant surprise still so young but very well balanced with a long life ahead. Only Manferrari can make a wine like this in Friuli. — 8 years ago
Tangy and complex flavour. Very chatty wine. Stood up to some strong peppery flavours. — 10 years ago
Delectable Wine

The 2017 Barolo is a pretty dense wine from proprietor Nicola Oberto. I am used to seeing a bit more finesse and transparency here, but the 2017 is quite a powerhouse. Large-grained tannins add to that impression. Time in the glass brings out hints of spice and tobacco, and yet the 2017 remains a bit rough around the edges. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, October 2021)
