Franco Serra Barolo DOCG 2016: Medium plus acidity. Medium tannins. Red fruits. Dried herbs. Earth. Leather. Tobacco. Long, silky smooth finish. This young Barolo was a pleasant surprise as my expectations were low (due to its age) however I was very wrong. It had great intense aromas & flavors, reflecting the characteristics of a finer quality wine. For me, it was a definite crowd pleaser with an amazing QPR! Cheers🍷 — 4 years ago

My WOTN! A "complete" Barolo, kinda out of a school book, that had it all: noble tannins, freshness and a first evolution into maturity. Huge layers of red berries, dried flowers, pipe tobacco, cedar and a bit of menthol. A touch fresher and more intense in the aromatics and tannins than the 1999 Rupestris. — 7 years ago

Fresh unfiltered funky rawness. The kind I like! — 10 months ago
Probably the best bottle of this I’ve had. Perfectly matured classical Rioja. Black cherries, some caramel, no tannins left and piercing acidity. — 3 years ago
Lighter color and body but surprisingly large tannins and flavors. Aromas of ripe plums, dark cherries and leather. Ripe cherry and Dr. Pepper flavors with some tobacco notes. Powerful with bracing acidity. Long finish with lots of tannin. Solid! Nicely aged. — 4 years ago
Nose is aromatic and ripe with a hint of stewed tomato to start off. Mid season cherry and really bright. Wish that overripe tomato was not there. It slowly blows off but on PNP it is prominent. Cherry flower. Tar. Spice. Nice nose. Not great. Palate is ripe and juicy but slightly broad with good balance, purity and freshness. Big tannins that I associate with Bussia. Good power and depth. No finesse. Solid not special. Maybe air helps?
UPDATE/ Air did help.this. 9.0 to 9.3. More silkiness and clearly defined fruit. — 5 years ago
Great cab franc from Uco, if you are into that style. Fruity (no oak whatsoever), but certainly not sweet or syrupy. Fairly acidic, and with a distinct mineral taste, like chalk or graphite. Lighter bodied than a cab sauvignon or a malbec (lighter colors, etc.) But still a powerful wine. — 7 years ago
Long earthy finish, some berries, well blended. My Family and I enjoyed this wine with spaghetti and meatballs! — 7 years ago
Lighter than most barolo. Went well with a banana pepper risotto / spicy Remoulade. Enjoyed — 10 months ago
Delicious, lush, and savory. Good Barbera acids, prune, stewed cherry, cola/black tea, wet earth and some mushroom, Piedmont tar, some minerals. From Amaro Spirits and Wine. 01/29/22 — 3 years ago

No formal notes. Sweet mix of black/red fruit, ripe yet assertive tannins, nice mid-palate juice, leathery. Structured and quiet now, shows potential. — 4 years ago
Super delicious! Relatively clean and precise. Great balance with uplifting, fresh character. — 5 years ago
A very average tasting, inexpensive Spanish Monastrell wine. — 7 years ago
