Showing beautifully. Beat out the leflaive chevalier this night — 6 years ago
Drank 2 bottles of this. First was very precise and energetic. Surprisingly fresh for an ‘05, not to memtion from Batard. 2nd bottle was more advanced but not overly so. Was more where I’d expect this wine to be. Deeper color and richness. Some @ dinner preferred this I’m not one of those folks but both were very nice. 94 and 92 points respectively. 2005 vintage. — 8 years ago
what to say... if u wanna know the difference between an vw gti and porche 911. grab a great batard and drink against a really good chardonnay. — 8 years ago
Tasted blind. Yellow gold in the glass, with similar notes as the 96 BBM and Batard next to it. Massive acidity. More floral than the other two. Very rich. This went neck and neck all night with the Batard as the best of the three. At first I liked the Chevy more but the Batard was right there too. 97+ — 4 years ago
Hitting its stride nearing peak drinking window. Great nose and complexity on the palate with dark fruit, well integrated tannins, and a long finish. Black cherry, blackberry, plum, cranberry, coffee, chocolate, hint of vanilla. $45 at total — 5 years ago
Absolutely smashing! Captures everything I love about Champagne: terroir, freshness and purity, lees and autolytic notes with a dollop of post disgorgement bottle age. Perfect harmony of reductive, oxidative, and tertiary elements coming together. At its lower atmospheres this gained a gorgeous vinous feel too it which had me thinking Batard Montrachet at times. Tangerine marmalade, succulent and ripe asian pear, poached apple, pineapple, spring honey, toasted hazelnut, sweet cream, brown butter, chalk, orchard blossoms, salt, brioche. 100 CH, 5.5 g/l, 9 years on lees, 4/2014 disgorgement — 5 years ago
neighbors Batard Montrachet, good company for this lieux dit. Stunning wine—nose, palate, punches far above its appellation. Nose shows flowers and spice, palate contains nuts and citrus, with acidity that lifts the wine, minerality, complex wine, long clean finish. Superb wine. — 7 years ago
drank this along side the batard-montrechet this evening. note to u- this is a tenth the price and 90% of the wine. I will happily consume a bottle a week of this if i can find it!!! — 8 years ago
Thinner but bright and drills young. — 9 years ago
Had this at Batard in Tribeca last night.. a very interesting wine. Had a smoky, flinty reductive character (reminded me a bit of Dag Selix) but with a rich mouth texture. Finish was long. Very enjoyable.

I don’t know if this is what Ramonet gets for their Chevy in trade for Batard but it certainly didn’t have the Ramonet mint/menthol. A lean balanced very clean rendition, lemon and other citrus, great texture and finesse, not real powerful but very persistent and enjoyable. Very light on its feet, it has a litheness I love about Chevalier. — 5 years ago
Incredible wine. Huge but not heavy. Dense, brooding, hibernating. Not super showy at this stage but still gives an incredible experience if you give it time and listen. 2013 is a great vintage for Batard as it is more of a lean, acid driven style which balances the big, rich, sometimes heavy (depending on producer and year) character. Great freshness and mineral character. Perfect balance. Well worth the money if you can afford it. Although it was fantastic at age 5, I can only imagine how amazing it’ll be in a decade or two. — 8 years ago

Lemon, butter, cashews, and vanilla. A large and powerful body with a generous finish. The “Bastard” Montrachet did it again! — 3 years ago
