2018 Fall dinner for the Confrerie St Etienne.

Had no idea this type of dessert wine existed. Comes from the Rasteau region of southern France. 100% Grenache. There is definitely a typical spice note to the finish which I always get with Grenache. Grilled strawberries and cherries jubilee. Very unique dessert wine.

2009, Julie Balagny, En Remont, Jean Barrat, Fleury, Gamay. No notes, but an excellent Cru Beaujolais. Red fruit, a little spice and a little earthy. Great story about Julie Balagny. Took her dog, got a vineyard, works it all by herself and makes great Cru Beaujolais. — 8 years ago

Quite light colour, touch of green even in the rim still. Mineral and crustacean shells, some white stone fruit also. Very much alive. The palate continues along the same theme , mineral driven , notes of the sea and the cool , peach flavours . Reasonable length and nicely balanced, complex also, certainly comes across as younger than 19 which is a credit to itself . Quite satisfying — 5 years ago
