Tasted blind. Dark red and opaque. Notes of tart cherries, earth, molasses, some wood, and a hint of VA that blew off. Rich fruit in the mouth. Monolithic though, and very quiet compared to the diva 64 Giacosa that is singing next to it. Perhaps it was the less air time that this had. What a treat to taste two great 64 Barolos side by side, brought brown-bagged by two different people. — 4 years ago

Exactly what I am looking for in a Brunello. Lovely balance of fruit and acidity. Typical Sangiovese characteristics coming through. Tertiary aromas of mushrooms and smoke starting to appear. At a perfect stage for drinking now. — 5 years ago

Cinghiale. Love mascarello, but this needs more time, despite the hot summer in '09. — 8 years ago
One of last bottles I bought in 2004 in Italy at winery. Absolutely gorgeous nose. Cherry, floral, Coca Cola. Still has lots of fruit smooth tannins and great length. Drinking window by professional stated through 2015. Has at least 5 years in my mind. — 9 years ago
Very unusual. Fruit forward. Medium body. Very surprising. — 11 years ago

It’s ok to drink it. Started rounded. Of course still tannic, but enough taste with black fruits and mushroom etc. 2016 @1680, vin37, 201113 — 4 years ago
