The oak has integrated since my last tasting 81 weeks ago. Sinewy aromas of beetroot and root vegetables but still manages to be plump on the palate. Great QPR at just under $40. From Marlborough - a little Pinot Noir gem in a sea of Sauvignon Blanc. — 7 years ago
Shows its age in the colour, it’s a lovely deep ruby with tawny edges. The nose is all raspberry but slightly stewed, again reflective of the time it’s had to unfold. Fragrant, with that distinctive New Zealand Pinot note of jasmine tea, and something like prosciutto (I mean that as a compliment). More jasmine tea on the palate, along with a seam of mineral/sea salt and lashings of fruit, both fresh and crunchy and cooked. Very fine indeed. Weighs in at 14.5 abv and there is a bit of heat to it, but nothing to worry about. Drinking superbly now and by all indications has a few more good years left. — 7 years ago
Great SB. Lots of fruit while retaining crispness. Excellent w sea food. Slight floral finish — 8 years ago
The color is a light and pretty red that one can easily read through. Nose is red berries, cinnamon, and the red apple skins common in Oregon Pinot Noir. Palate texture is buoyant with purple candies, and cold red fruits that appear to be laced with sea salt. Acid is obvious but balanced. Finish is about 2 minutes of salinity. This wine tastes like a purple oyster. Retail: approx $25 — 9 years ago
Very floral aroma and tastes of passion fruit...smooth and refreshing at lunch paired with a pan fried sea bass — 9 years ago
So damn smooth, restrained acidity, sea air and hints of grass. Would drink this everyday. — 9 years ago
Lively and lush with screaming acidity. Learned about Montgueux, a Chard island in a sea of Pinot. A new go-to wine for oysters. — 5 years ago
I little young but very approachable. Velvety smooth and full of life. Bold bodied and energetically strong. A little paradise island in a sea of quiet. Dreaming side by side, watching clouds go by. Tomorrow is near, now it’s here, always too soon. I wait.... — 7 years ago
Absolutely lovely. You feel as if you have been transported to a little island full of citrus trees right on the Mediterranean sea. Fabulous summer wine! — 7 years ago
One of the earliest viticultural inhabitants of Marlborough, the Giesen Brothers offer a fantastic portfolio - including a Pinot Noir from the pedigreed Clayvin Vineyard. When it comes to value in New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, however, it's hard to beat Giesen's entry-level. Tart, clean, and mineral - it tastes of sea water-splashed bell peppers, mixed with cold grapefruit slices and cilantro. — 7 years ago
Some sort of delicious red dessert wine. — 9 years ago
NO birthday is complete without some fortified wine from Portugal. This one makes its way from the island of Madeira. Insanely complex the aroma and flavor so are roasted mixed nuts, caramel, orange peel, sea salt, prosciutto and licorice. Excellent acidity on the weightless, though crazy long finish. #newyork #madeira @Rare Wine Co. — 9 years ago
Pale golden white. Short brief head in pour, moderate carbonation with medium sized bubbles. Label says it’s part of Heirloom Series, 8% alcohol. Pleasant perfumed apple aromas in nose. Expected McIntosh flavor profile in mouth but much more subtle and complex than that. Ever so slightly off dry, slight astringency in finish so very gently pressed. Slight malic snap in finish. Well crafted and superior product — 6 years ago
Sultry with a dense nose of cobalt fruit. On the palate huckleberrry and cherry lunge and sway like youths in favelas practicing capoeira on steep hillsides with views of the sea. Vibrant ruby body. Whorly tannins, violet, cacao, and earth linger to the finish. — 7 years ago
Kumeu River is situated north of Auckland where you would expect conditions to be warm but the Vineyard is kept cool by its proximity to two large bodies of water - the Tasman Sea 20 km to the west and the Pacific Ocean 30 km to the east keeping peak summer temperatures below 30C. Known for its brilliant Chardonnay this is not surprisingly a very good Pinot. — 8 years ago
Had a bottle of this great wine at The Ocean Club for my birthday!! Really great with our Chilean Sea Bass. — 9 years ago
Just had it with a Red Velvet cupcake with a scoop of Sea salt Caramel & Pineapple coconut icecreams. So Great! — 9 years ago
Like a cool mashup between a Viognier and a muscadet. Nose of white flowers, sea spray, jasmine tea , yellow peach. Absolutely beguiling. Combination of stone fruit -+ green apple + pear, with jasmine throughout. Long. Zingy acidity more like a muscadet than a Viognier. Finishes clean and long. — 9 years ago

After climbing Wednesday's with George. Had with Thai green curry (cod and sea bass wombo combo). Lovely, crisp wine with a little taste of grapefruit — 5 years ago
