Smelled of deep, rich herbal earth. Like a warm summer afternoon hiking in the foothills of Appalachia. The taste was so starkly different to be unrecognizable. Butter, like a steak basted in butter. From the Austin Hope Family, a new wine that express the potential of Paso Robles.A blend of 57% Cab Sauv, 23% Merlot, 15% Petit Verdot, 5% Petite Sirah, aged for 21 months on American oak (65%new) aromas of berry fruit, vanilla spice and floral notes. Very much so oxidative style, acetaldehyde and amarone like aromas. Floral. Light body with some astringency and balanced acid- very easy drinking. Showing some age.
Caramel/amaretto retronasal, with red fruit and golden dates. More floral.
