Absolutely a knockout. Last had almost 2 years ago and the time has been good. Decanted 1.5 hours, still fairly primary - would be a delicious one to age more, but so it goes. Aromatically incredible. So deep on the palate with that perfect refreshing note on the finish. Excellent pairing with fennel rubbed roast chicken, mushrooms cooked in the chicken fat, and oven fries with a tarragon aioli. — 4 months ago

Quite deep ruby , with a wide garnet rim, quite young looking. Dried herbs , smoked meat , red cherry, violets , liquorice and antique furniture polish notes . On the palate quite round and rich, sweet red fruits , with that herbal tinge , those liquorice and charcuterie notes also evident . This in fact still shows well a day later , still quite full and rich , with red plum and black cherry notes . Quite good acidity , with quite gritty tannins, balanced alcohol . Decent length . This is very good now though no rush , mature but will continue to show well for a while longer , from now over the next 5 years . Final wine from our tasting at Antinori just outside Florence in their state of the art facility. All 3 wines matured in French or Hungarian Barriques. Initial barnyard aromas which blew off to reveal florals like lavender and peony. Oak is perfectly balanced and does not intrude in any of the 3 wines tasted. This district is not traditional for Syrah (only since 2000) but suits it perfectly - sandy soils. More savoury and meaty than fruit driven. — 8 months ago
