The ‘Alenza’ is only made in the best vintages and is named after Alejandro Fernandez’s wife. This 100% Tempranillo wine starts off an intense dark fruit aromatic profile with chocolate, cedar and damp earth undertones. The palate unveils a great combination of richness and balance with brandy soaked dark cherry, pipe tobacco, coffee ground and wild mushroom flavors that all beautifully amalgamate. Delicious now at thirteen years of age, this will continue to evolve for fifteen plus years. Drink 2019-2035- 94 — 6 years ago

Excelente vino, con gran estructura y cuerpo. Importado por Plaza Cellars. — 7 years ago
Bright and fruity aroma with vanilla and smooth tannins in the first taste. Slight slickness lingers, but no strong finish. Paired well with carbonara. — 7 years ago
Fin farge, fyldig og frisk. God ettersmak. Bittelitt skarp med en gang, men funker som nippevin. — 5 years ago

The 2014 ‘Condado de Haza’ by Alejandro Fernandez is a 100% Tempranillo wine, sourced from their estate vineyards. This shows toasty oak with lovely savory character on the nose with red fruits and bell pepper accents. The mouthfeel and texture here is excellent as the wine delivers beautiful earthy tones with red and dark fruit flavors and a touch of chocolate. With bright acidity, this will cellar well over the next decade. Drink 2019-2029- 91

This was black as my soul. Seriously. So much suspended particulates. Still very good — 6 years ago
A sister property of the more well-known Tinto Pesquera, this small production 100% Tempranillo is a stunner. Captivating aromas of black tea leaf, roasted coffee beans, dark chocolate, Chinese herbal tea, vanilla, and a bit barnyard infuse the core of ripe black fruits. The palate is vibrant and smooth with silky but still a bit firm tannins, with fig-like sweet undertone, leading to a long, spicy finish... did I mentioned the nose? So deep, warm, and complex! A gem. — 7 years ago
Dark ruby red color. The nose is powerful: raspberries, chocolate and also leather. The mouthfeel is complex and balanced! The berries are immediately apparent, followed by savoryness, and hints of vanilla. The finish is long, intense, and full of round tannings but smooth as silk. Rioja, paella and Alejandro Sanz; can’t get more Spanish than that. And it may be the inspiration talking but this bottle is tasting as close to Rioja perfection as I’ve ever had. — 5 years ago
Excellent fruit forward with mild peppery finish, pairs well with poultry or seafood — 6 years ago
Traditional in a decidedly good way. But still with Ribera freshness and fruit. Paired great with skrei cod and aioli! — 6 years ago
2011 vintage. Lovely lovely. Spicey up front, grippy little tannins , balanced, fruit forward, got some length, nice oak. Fun. — 6 years ago
Another @Alejandro Medina selection for my long wedding weekend kickoff. “You’ve got to...Bugey on down, Bugey on down the road.” This is sultry. — 7 years ago

I love Spanish wines and Garnacha wines are a great value. This wine is inexpensive but burst with aromas and flavors that go beyond the price. It is vibrant and peppery. Excellent value wine. Great with cheese and crusty Cuban bread! Salud. 2019 vintage. — 3 years ago
