The famed Black Russian - estate grown Saperavi & Sereksiya Charni. No idea how these varietals are supposed to taste but this is a serious ager. — 11 years ago
Enjoyed by half of those served. More earthy, more oak, not as acrobatically aromatic as it's sister vintage, 1989. One could say that the '90 is the one who did as it was told. Its '89 sibling rocks more of the inner party slut. As in Life, this will be the long ager of the two. — 12 years ago
Absolutely excellent chardonnay; totally opposite to the fruity brigade that dominates reviewers' minds; this is restraint, mealy, wheaten nose; great maturity though lime green at 7 yrs; 12% alc, hand sorted, mature vines meaning 35+ I guess; taut and true to light- medium category of this variety; has dignity not brashness; long ager too; paired with seafood bouillabaisse; #drinkoz #victorianwine #yarravalley #dixonscreek #debortoli #chardonnay #reserverelease #2008 #12% #maturewine #maturingchardonnay #maturevines — 11 years ago
Fantastic! This Nebbiolo-based red from the Boca commune is tightly coiled at the moment, needs decanting. Nose of black cherries and cloves. Beautifully defined on the palate, moderately high acidity makes this both a wonderful food wine and a long ager. Tannins are fine, with the quality of Italian plum skins and black tea. Medium bodied, with a moderately lengthy finish. — 12 years ago
Tasty, meaty Merlot based blend. Dried currant nose that gives to toast and soy. Finish of cola and red meat. Not an ager, but very tasty now. — 11 years ago
I think of this as a little Cab because of its price but it drinks like a big boy. Fred didn't think this was a long ager but it has plenty of fruit and a ton of structure. A joy to drink. — 12 years ago
