Oracle Clare Valley Shiraz 2016

Winter berry red on the eye. Oak, dark black fruits and spice on the nose. Smooth and silky vibe on the nose. Smooth, juicy, great tannins and length - would benefit from some more time in the cellar. β€” 3 years ago

GRU Adelaide Hills GrΓΌner Veltliner 2019

Served blind by me at Sue Bell’s dinner party with Bruce Redman. After being tricked by Sue all week with blind tastings at the winery I was determined to get square. She was up to the task getting just the state wrong. Once I said Adelaide Hills she knew it was a Gruner. Hahndorf Hill are acknowledged as the best producers of Gruner in Australia. Taking its lead from the GV’s of Austria’s Kamptal region. Grapefruit, Citrus and stone fruit. A multi award winner on the Australian Show circuit. A gold medal at the Decanter World Wine Awards London 2020. β€” 4 years ago

@Bob McDonald have only had their Cabernet (which was quite delicious). Will have to find a bottle.

@Simon Gilligan Quite close to a cellar door visit from where you live. Worth the trip to taste all their GVs. I was a bit disappointed with their Blaufrankisch but I don’t have much experience with this varietal.

This is fantastic, pure fresh natty wine. Like susucaru made of pinot. Glorious and without SO2 of course, so just drink it, not a long term ager, and so good now. Just got this in the mail today and Pobega'd it. β€” 7 years ago

Adelaide Hills Shiraz 2018

A nice mix of black/blue/red fruits, lightly spiced, Medium to full bodied, feels like a bit of whole bunch (?) nicely dry savoury finish, tannic, crisp acidity. 93 as I thoroughly enjoyed sitting at their new cellar door with the afternoon sun filtering through the gums. β€” 5 years ago

@Bob McDonald it was ok! surprisingly easier than I thought (same went for my partner Niki). I think it took about 2 weeks to really feel the difference, at which point yes, sleep was better, starting the week felt better (we do drink more fri/sat/sun), all in all a good break that also saved us some money :) However … having a nice glass of wine is a real pleasure both in the taste aspect, but also the social/shared experience angle. Also a good reminder of how much drinking is baked into our society (with both good and bad ramifications). Coming out of it, as mainly a red drinker, I’m also seeking out more medium bodied styles vs the bigger reds I have probably leaned to in the past - sort of a taste re-alignment.
