Indeed, hedonistic wines can be quite good. Some of them, however, lean towards being a bit too extracted and rich, especially in their youth like this 2016. Alas, this was high quality and balanced.

Actually that wine is lovely, but its a downright falsehood that its hard to find an under 20 dollar wine that is great. Mabye from California, but I can name 200 amazing 15 dollar wines from Spain, France, Italy and more .

This is drinking really nicely right now. Much more subtle and less in-your-face than many new-world Viogniers tend to be. Sort of has the body and palate weight of a nice Chardonnay, but the flavors are more in the floral and lime range. Very refreshing yet complex enough to reward some real contemplation. — 7 years ago
