During our stay at the hospital for the birth of our son some dear friends of ours brought my wife & I a care package. In it were all manner of goodies and treats, as well as a bottle of champagne and this scotch. They know us all too well 🤫🤷🏻‍♂️

Caramel, creme brûlée, charred orange peels, and Christmas spice cake on the nose. Mild notes of moss on the palate with a pronounced but welcome warmth on the way down. Smooth and perfectly suitable for ending the day with. — 7 years ago

Decanted for approximately 40 minutes. Blend of Syrah, Grenache, and a smidgen of Mourvèdre. The best vintage of this I think I’ve had. Generous with the red and black fruits, soft but firming tannins on the back end and posses a long finish. Great structure and balance. Surprised that I found a vintage of this age for a basic CDR at a grocery store and it is showing really well. Fantastic QPR. $14 @ H-E-B. — 8 years ago

We had this on 11/11-12/18. Patience rewards the wine collector. Four years ago this had tannin; now this is all smoothed out . Delicious wine with tastes of blackberry, cassis and some dark cherry on the palate. Long smooth finish to this full bodied wine. — 8 years ago

Team drinks continued with this stunning Riesling from Peter Lauer. I remember reading in David Schildknecht's review of the 2015 that the vineyard from which this gorgeous wine emerges was abandoned and left wild. What a service from those who brought back these ancient vines into production. Wildly complex and almost viscous in texture, this rich, peachy, minerally wine is just gorgeous. — 8 years ago

Continues to hone in on what Gamay from this site can, and should, be. Don't go looking for Cru Beaujolais here - this is a distinct expression of CA. Not over ripe or flabby, just working out different muscles than the top Morgons.
