Second time back on this beauty and it did not disappoint. Nice balance with an earthy quality and a touch of licorice. Have a bottle of their High Road laying in the cellar, but in the meantime I'll pick up more of this 2012 Avenger.

Another terrific offering from Cris Cherry at Villa Creek, this SMG blend is drinking beautifully right now. Intense nose of blackberries, camphor, and a touch of iodine, it is remarkably smooth for such a young wine. Layers of flavor and wonderfully balanced through the mid-palate, this is a classic example of a Paso Rhone Ranger blend. Not sure about its longevity - as I implied this is far more integrated at 3 years than I would have expected - but it's drinking so well now I'm not sure why you would wait!

A good Paso SMG blend to go with a cheese dinner. Dark berry on the nose, full bodied with the dark fruit following through on the palate.

2012 - big black fruit, meat, smoke, spice, floral. Candied, sweet palate but holds together well. Nice juicy acidity. For the size this is fresh.
