13’ Thomas Fogarty Damiana Vineyard Chardonnay.

TASTING NOTES ( From the Winery)
Always our most opulent Chardonnay, Damiana has vivid fruit and buttressed by intense natural acidity. Power and grace.

Orange zest, lemon/lime, hard butterscotch candy, soft creaminess to it. A splash of acid. Needs a 30/ 45 minute decanting. It’s still felt slightly short of what it will be!!

There’s no doubt this will taste better in a year. This is the current release. Will age nicely for another 8/10 years.

@David L thanks for sharing this bottle. I loved every aspect of this wine and so did the crowd. Starts with needing about 45min to open up. A seamless classic Chardonnay. Rich and polished with hints of fig, melon and pear. Hazelnut shows on the finish for a long aftertaste. Excellent. Thanks again David!

Golden colored delight! Tropical fruit, candied lemon, orange peel, minerals. Delicious Santa Cruz Mountain fruit with medium+ body. Awesome bottle of wine to drink while watching the Cowboys game.

I deliberately try to taste Fogarty wines no more than necessary because I genuinely enjoy what we make and don't want my appreciation to be dulled by overexposure. Wine can be so humbling. When we bottled this one, I was a bit unimpressed. Primary fermentation dragged on for 16 months and I thought it a bit soft. 2.5 years in the bottle and things have changed. Still youthful, its all fresh, ripe fruit reined in by juicy acidity and balanced by a bitter-savory fresh bay character and a nervous, tense spine.

Intriguing nose, reminiscent of the old world with flint and wet rocks. Supple and giving palate that doesn't quite present the restraint that the nose suggests. Will be fun to watch this one lose its baby fat.
