At 11.5% abv and with a striking salinity to boot, this was firmly in red kabi territory. Loved it! Officially a rosé, but really it’s a light red. Volcanic Poulsard was also another term thrown around on table, and frankly, it was quite apt. Beautiful aromas of pomegranate, tangerine, roses and some herbal hints. The wine just dances on the palate with tangy cranberry notes and lingering saltiness. So yum!

Finally tried this much feted Pantelleria producer—it is a bit more affordable in Italy. Firstly, a perfect wine for a hot afternoon in Ortigia, so enjoyable and inviting. Not to say uncomplicated—a light black cherry and hibiscus perfume, and general fresh lemon and green olive brine palate with an ever-evolving layer of savory herbs. Robust minerality throughout the whole bottle. The perricone makes this rosato pour quite dark, but it was such a refreshing vino! Will splurge for another down the line stateside.
