The 2018 Rosso Ischia Piana wafts up with a classic Aglianico bouquet of musky blackberry, scorched earth and crushed stone, filling the palate with a polished display of ripe red/black fruits and violet florals. It’s incredibly long with concentration framed by sweet tannins. $22.00 (Eric Guido, Vinous, October 2021)

100% Aglianico. Dark ruby/purple color. Aromas and flavors of plum, black cherry, tobacco, dark chocolate, graphite and freshly turned soil. Touch of pepper spice on the finish. Bright acidity and very firm tannins. Bone dry. Best with food. Give this one a decant.
