Very reticent nose. Lovely secondary fruit on palate, has plenty of stuffing, but mute aromatically. On day 3, developing an interesting cigar and ashtray, even meaty aroma. Love produttori, but complexity and fruit I expected never fully emerged with this bottle. Maybe in a transitional period or just an off bottle? (No detectable TCA but my understanding is this could also be consistent with below threshold presence)

It's really nice when a wine starts out as 'ordinary' and then grows into something complex and full of memory as it sits. Over an hour, this has turned from only fresh strawberry w/ an alcohol nose burn to cedar, raspberry, black cherry, tar, dr pepper, cocoa, and rose petal. Crumbly tannin, med+ acid, and a moderate finish. If I'm being objective, it's a touch hot, the oak is apparent, and the fruit is just a bit overripe, but tonight - at home w/ osso buco, my wife, my daughter, and memories of my father - it's perfect.

Great year for this wine as there are no Cru sites in 2006, however they were mostly vinfied by site and were for a time headed into single site. Killer value and an excellent, accessible Nebbiolo!

Go to Barbearesco. The right time to drink some Nebbiolo. Bright & vibrant on the nose and palate. Acid, cherry, subtle spice and great tannin on the palate, just starting to soften.

Why don't I have/own/cellar/drink more of these? So right up my alley. Hope to see you again soon.
