One of the best Merlots that I have had. Black fruit takes the stage with well rounded tannins. This is a tad one dimensional, but what more do you expect from merlot? Damn good merlot. Drink now!

Dark ruby. Aromas of plum, dark chocolate, menthol, and cedar. Dark fruit and soft tannins. 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and a dollop of Petit Verdot added to the Merlot then aged in 40% new French oak. 14.5% ABV. $62.

We really enjoyed this wonderful Merlot with steaks last night. Full bodied and interesting character and no sharp tannins. Well done.

First taste before decant- dryer than I expected. Bright. There is complexity on the finish. More greens than berries. First sips. 9.0. I was definitely expecting it to be bolder and richer so that is interesting.

4 hour decant later— nose developed a bit since. The wine is definitely much better with time. It’s more integrated and smooth. However it doesn’t have the distinct taste and smell of the older Prides. It’s still not as big as I remember their 2014 Merlots. There is some baking spice. It’s smooth and med body. 9.0+.
