Terrific chardonnay from Pisoni. Interesting comparison with their Lucia line: this one, from their flagship label, exhibits far more depth than the (very good) Lucia chard. Honeysuckle, lemon peel, white flowers, and a hint of vanilla on the nose, the palate has impressive depth. The wine needs to be cooled down a few degrees in order to bring it into focus in terms of acidity, but once it’s there the wine is nicely balanced. Impressed with the amount of fruit that still presents given the wine’s age, a testament to the fact that Jeff Pisoni definitely knows what he’s doing with chardonnay. Probably has several more years of evolution ahead of it, but drinking beautifully right now.
