Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey
Meursault Chardonnay
Meursault, Côte de Beaune, Burgundy, France

2020 vintage. Brought into the house by one of the FLB (Friday Lunch Bunch) regulars. Tasted after 15 minutes and one hour. Pre-chilled (down to approx 45 degrees) upon reception. Put on additional ice for 30 minutes. Opened (and had to deploy the Durand for the last third as the cork got squirrelly) and decanted. Brilliant color even on an overcast afternoon. Had a proper, shallow ice bath to keep the decanter/wine 25% submerged for temp purposes. Was striving to keep this one consistently in the 58-62 degree range and think we succeeded. Medium body. Keeping the wine at these temps broke it and in a good way. Acidity stayed in the right channel and Fruit/oak stayed in the left on both samples. Transitions from one to the other were initially abrupt and brisk but dovetailed on the last visit. Excellent concentration and attention to detail. Some golden qualities. Some gratuitous notes. Built to last another 7-10 years. 10.30.26.
