A classic Rosso, this is a really soft, very approachable sangiovese. Lots of primary fruit on the nose (maybe black cherry?), but doesn’t have the earthiness that I typically expect for an Italian red (perhaps 2014 was a warm vintage?). Great flavors, but a little too flat on the palate for my tastes. Probably could have used a bit more contact time with the skins, but then again, Rossos are supposed to be soft and approachable so you can drink them while you wait for the brunellos to come around. Overall a good wine - very enjoyable - but not one to wait on. Drink ‘em if ya got ‘em!
