La Pucelle Chamery 1er Cru Pinot Noir
Chamery, Montagne de Reims, Champagne, France

The OG before the label change. Just stunning and so toasty. Brioche, saline and super elegant. Such fine bubbles. So so good. Likely the first vintage I ever sold.

Popped and poured; enjoyed over two days. Maybe slightly better on Day 2 under a muzzle. The “Le Pucelles” pours a straw color with a persistent mousse. On the nose, the wine is developing with powerful notes of ripe and tart fruit: green apple, wild strawberry, raspberry, Meyer lemon, and minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry and the acid is high. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long. Looking back at my previous notes for this wine from the same disgorgement, the fruit set has shifted a little but I’m no less impressed. The quality of the fruit is tremendous and the minerals dazzle. A dense Champagne and yet it never feels heavy. The cut and precision is undeniable. Drink now through 2036. Disgorged in October of 2022. Thank you @Lyle Fass for the assist!

Stunning as usual. Perfect harmony. Such vivid cherry. Out of this world aromas.

No formal notes. Perfect. Best bottle I’ve ever had.

Popped and poured; enjoyed as a preamble to my birthday dinner. The “La Pucelle” pours a straw color with medium viscosity and a persistent mousse. On the nose, the wine is developing with powerful notes of yellow apple, Bosc pear, raspberry, white peach, brioche some chanterelle mushrooms and a mix of chalky and limestone minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with high acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is forever. Zippy. Divine. A “wow” Champagne that seems to straddle the freshness of the reductive approach and the complexity of the oxidative approach.
Always 100% Pinot Noir, this release of “La Pucelle” is a deft blend of the 2014 and 2012 vintages; 32/68 respectively. Disgorged 2015. Though this is NV, expect a long life. My only regret is drinking this so quickly because this has a bigger story to tell. But I was sharing with 9 other people and holy smokes, it’s already the belle of the ball. Thank you @Lyle Fass for the assist!

Almost lemony on the nose. A hint of richness. After an hour simply gorgeous in a perfect balance kind of way. A hint of pleasant oxidation after an hour. Still stunning lemon flower perfume.
Palate is richly mineral. Very precise. Lemon finish. Really bright minerals made from 1,000 year old lemons.
Finish is the perfect blend of gods lemons and Meyer lemons. Suck perfect juicy sweet lemons (but not in a dosage sweet way)
A geeky mineral precise champagne for those who can tell. Sort of the opposite of Krug.
