Matthiasson
Matthiasson Vineyard Ribolla Gialla
Napa Valley, California, USAUnfortunately another one I’d term more as “interesting” than good. I like the ribollas I’ve had from the classic producers. This certainly has nice texture and length, and is clearly well made. But the overall impression is slightly sour and one note, without a lot of depth to deliver deeper interest. Hoped it would improve on day 2 but it did not.

Such a great food wine!
Classic orange/gold color. Less acidic and bold as prior vintages. Orange, melons, and spaghetti sauce (??) dominate. Lovely texture,

Medium gold and delightfully cloudy in the glass…Notes of lemongrass, yuzu, and pineapple on the nose but the tropical notes recede on the palate. Decidedly savory, herbal and round. Medium bodied, with weight and gravitas bolstered by definite acidity and a touch of oxidation that smooths out on swallow. Unusual… seductive….exhilarating walk on the Natural side. Fun…and that doesn’t happen often enough.
