Yamhill Valley Vineyard Chardonnay

Super mineral nose with discreet framing oak. Lemon flesh. Some rainer cherries. Saline and iodine. Subtle yet focused and incredibly complex nose. Such nice earth and mineral tones. Smells like Burgundy of yesteryear. Palate is so lean, salty and concentrated with a lingering hint of complex sweetness from the wood on the incredibly persistent finish. So juicy and leaning on the palate and just laser focused. So long. This has much more to give and has closed down a bit since I tasted it last. But a stunner. I’ll be back as it airs.

After 4 hours this is a wonder and has opened beautifully. Clear barely ripe granny smith apple, stunning mineral breadth and some white flowers. Palate is so juicy and saline. Luscious. It’s loosened up quite a bit. Long, structured finish. Super juicy. Fantastic.

Yowza. The “Grand Cru.” which is obvious as soon as one smells it. An amalgam of spice, minerals, apple and pear. But heirloom apples and yes there is a difference. Just insane unreal complexity. So serene. So calming. So zen. I love the calming complexity of this wine. Huge power, depth and concentration with almost tannic elements on the finish. Easily the star of the trio but needs a few hours to strut its stuff. The epic long finish is the giveaway. That nose is, dare I say, Brisset like? It’s so complex and compact. Just insane. Wow this is sappy and complex to the max. Saturates the palate with Grand Cru grip and persistence. This is genius. More notes once it opens up.

Clean and mineral, cool climate flavor. Not much ripe fruit but a complex lean mineral structure like 1er cru Chablis. Really subtle oak. Very good, but needs 3-4 years. Pretty gooseberry notes on day 4.
