The only Côte Rotie on the evening. Pepper, meat, joy.

Over hill - cedar box tannins overpower fruit at this point.

CVed 5/10/17. Reticent nose that took over an hour to open up. Balanced bouquets of violets and spicy toasty meaty notes. Balanced and almost elegant palette with long finish. More restrained than I'd imagined but still delicious. CVed again 8/17/17. Comp with three others. Same impression. Behind Guigal. Opened 3/5/18. Delicious. As previously stated but less dense of restraint. Palate is gamey and savory yet almost silky and long complex finish. Still some fine tannins even at this age? Upping by point.

Very savory. Herbs and grilled meat. Still quite fresh. Lacks a little vivacity compared to the St Joseph

A bit past its prime thus the taste was a bit disappointing. Not dead by any means but definitely over the hill. Did not decant which would have made the situation worse I think.

Really showcases how much finesse Syrah can deliver. Fading a bit in the glass though after an hour or so.

Nothing really wrong with this but it's just a little soulless, which has been somewhat of a consistent refrain here. I'd hoped some time since my last bottle would have given it some more character but it really wasn't to be.

A bit dusty, but a strong barnyard nonetheless

I have had this a couple of times and either been blown away, or lackluster. This was the latter experience.
