Just so well put together. Bit of spice up front and then just a whole lot of youthful prettiness. Delicious.

'00 vintage. Nose is rather reductive, feeling it's age. We can call it character or maturity. I call it "tired" instead.
Chewy tannins, cherry liquor liquor palate, it's almost port like.
Not my kind of Barolo, some at the table said it was the best of the line up.....

A bit of an oak bomb for me for a 17yr old. It was a bit overwhelming for me. Could have been the accompanying wines but the Sandrone was very “modern” last night.

In December I pledged to keep this a long time, but Joe had better ideas. This time, 3 hr decant paid off. Rich, smoky, tarry nose. Florals, too. Feminine, delicate but powerful, the former by light berry and cherry element, the latter by perfect, fine tannins and tar. Last of half case, this could've gone longer. Bottle variation curious...just edged the Clerico for me, though the Clerico was way better value.

2nd to last btl of a case and still haven't figured this completely out. 2 hr decant and nose was muted, good raisiny, tar. 2 guests called this New World, 1 of them merlot. It's that primary, licorice, earthiness, balsamic, blueberry but definitely un-Piedmont in its big ripe tannins at this age. I love this wine but it defeats me somehow. Years to go...I think.

Lovely, rallied hard after 4 hrs in decanter, so sock this away. Stemmy tar and so long. Wonderful for me, but group had hard time with early awkwardness.
