Louis Jadot
Clos Vougeot Grand Cru Pinot Noir

Deep dark tawny. Hot nose. Notes of cherry kirsch, moist dark soil, some wood and some rhubarb. Strong and powerful in the mouth. Lots of fruit with low acidity. Alcohol is noteworthy. One dimensional in its delivery. Typical for the vintage. Ok at best.

Dark ruby, barely translucent. Ripe, exotic nose. Black cherry, moist dark soil, some menthol and some raspberries. Masculine and medicinal in the mouth. Has some power. Rounds out with several hours of air. Liked this more than I thought I would.

Last week was a combo of 4th Friday and Open That Bottle Night on back to back nights. Needless to say, the lineup between both days was full of heavy hitters, so I’m only posting standout bottles.
I agree with other comments that this would be a good bridge from Cali/OR to burgundy. The fruit here is still quite ripe and powerful, highlighting the warm vintage. Darker profile compared to the Laurent Mazis-Chambertin...blackberries, black cherries, blueberry fig, violets, and espresso aromatics. Less acidity than the other, and more plum. I imagine the flavor profile will stay here for quite a while, but I don’t think it’s improving.

Not quite as good as the bottle two nights ago but still a beautiful mouthful of juice. Again, a great vintage for moving someone from CA Pinot to Burgundy.
